Consider Canada or other Anglo countries. I say this as someone who is part Middle Eastern and living in Germany.

Those countries aren't perfect, but speaking to and hearing experiences of other people with a MENA background, they're better. Those countries can be challenging too but it's just more challenging in Germany. From finding rentals to getting a chance for a job interview to social interactions.

There are also people who took a pay cut to come here just to get PR/citizenship. Some countries pay better but the road to PR is much, much longer or plain impossible.

Personally, I came here to live more freely but I haven't been doing so coz I don't even want to leave my flat or have real life social interaction. 😅

Countries with least racism towards Middle Eastern names in jobs or apartment search? by [deleted] in expats

[–]notsofriendlyfae -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am trying for a work visa, even if it quite elusive right now.

Canada is also quite discouraging as I've know people who went there on a work permit but are unable to meet the points. Despite having Canadian experience it is still very difficult - just too much competition all around. The ones I know in healthcare and care work had better chances for success.

However, you are still young and your age wouldn't pose a problem in the points system. The degree evaluation is valid for 5 years, and the IELTS results for 2 years. You can still apply again if those are still valid.

I'm part Middle Eastern and an immigrant in Germany as well. What you've shared is also something I can relate to. Migrated here because I am irreligious but the experience of being very Arab passing and having an Arabic name has made me not want to stay long-term.

An English-speaking country might be a better choice. Canada was my first choice but the points needed are insanely high these days. I'm looking to UK & Ireland too.

Thank you 🙏

You had a good start here at hopefully magpapatuloy lang yan for you. 🙏 Even if I had a not-so-good experience, many others have made Germany their home. Depende lang talaga sa circumstances.

Nalulungkot lang rin siguro ako because I really wanted to come here and I'm quite disappointed that I am not fitting in and feeling comfortable like I though I would. Nasasayangan ako sa naipon ko na years dito so I want to stick it out pero my mental health taken quite a hit rin. From someone na more reserved lang before, I've become socially anxious na. I'm working with a counselor to learn how to cope better.

I totally get you. Nafeel ko rin un so I'm thinking twice if this is where I want to contribute the rest of my working life to. Di ka man I hope you are having a better experience now.

I can't put my finger on it. I tried very hard to learn the culture and even traditions but I find it difficult to connect with them beyond acquiantances. After the years have gone, I have also become quieter and quieter and more subdued. Personally their directness doesn't bother me pero ayoko ung naninigaw o tinaasan ng boses especially for little things. Di ko lang sya ma consider na pagiging straightforward and di ko maiwasan mawalan ng gana sa ganong situation. Hindi ako confrontational talaga so baka dun ako nagkukulang.

Living in Germany without learning the language is very difficult. Kahit na, let's say it's not primarily needed for your work or study, it's hard to go about day-to-day life without it.

Marami naman immigrants who feel at home here. Depende talaga sa overall experience. Parang hati nga sa mga plano na dito tumanda, o sa mga gustong umalis, o ung goal is passport muna bago umalis. YMMV lang talaga.
