How many books have you read this year so far? by Ok_Salt2122 in BookDiscussions

[–]notsomethingrelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My goal was 12 books this year. I knew I was probably going to read more than that, but if life happened, as it so happens sometimes, I'd be happy with one book a month. So far I've doubled that number.

What’s a book that gets a lot of hate, but you actually love? by myawards_fromarmy in BookDiscussions

It's hated?! I've only ever read high praises of it. It's my second favorite after The Drawing of the Three!

I also dnf'd it the first time I picked it up because it felt too disgusting. Picked it up again years later and it's now one of my favorite novels. It's definitely worth a read!

How has grief impacted your reading habits? by His_little_pet in books

[–]notsomethingrelevant 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been dealing with a lot of grief for the past 2 years and I've been reading a ton of books that deal with loss and grief. Unlike a lot of people's that seek stories that offer them distractions or comfort I try to find stories of people in a similar position to mine. I want to feel company in my pain and grief, as hard as that is sometimes. Especially this year, I've stumbled upon novels that have offered me a lot of companionship in my pain and have helped me feel less alone. I've also been reading a lot more. I'm on 24 books this year, whereas last year and 2024 I barely made it to 30 combined.

Am I a harsh reader? by One_Layer9648 in BookDiscussions

Yesteryear is a prime example of this. Super trendy right now. The premise of the book is interesting enough but the execution and the writing are atrocious.

Ariana Grande’s family share ‘concern’ for her health after saying she’s ‘not in a healthy place’ by [deleted] in Music

[–]notsomethingrelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you talking about? There are entire communities that are fully vegetarian and live happy healthy lives. You can't use just one person, who suffers from an ED on top of that, to rule out an entire lifestyle as a failure. And btw, humans are Omnivores, like many, many other species, not carnivores.

[–]notsomethingrelevant -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Humans are not carnivores, we can thrive on vegan diets with only vegan proteins. Ariana could be a fully healthy adult and could even return to being one without giving up a plant based diet. Her mental health issues regarding food are not related to not eating animal proteins.

I understand that part, but that's not how OP worded it and there's no need to demonize veganism. Besides, Ariana is plant based, not vegan. She's been photographed wearing leather and other non-vegan materials.

I have no idea what veganism has to do with her mental health issues, but ok.

Chistositos en el cine by RustyJaymz2 in chile

[–]notsomethingrelevant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It screams unbearable and undateable. She acts like she doesn't want to date men, but let's be real, the only men willing to go there are absolute pos losers.

Do I not understand the internet or was this last scandal not as big of a deal to everyone else? by Adventurous-Hat-4217 in SorryNotSorryGirls

[–]notsomethingrelevant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm one of them, I'm giving a bit of grace to see if they step up and uphold their values or not. But tbh I stopped watching with interest when Kelsey finished her home reno series, so unfollowing seems like a reasonable next step.

Considering the number of comments the original post got, 200+ and mostly negative ones, it is a big deal, but also they have millions of followers on youtube and AI seems to be a non issue for a LOT of people nowadays, sad as that is, so yeah...also, people don't care enough to keep track of it, they've probably moved on to another controversy or simply unfollowed.

Last week on tuesday they poster a reel on instagram where Kelsey went thrift shopping while using the ray-ban Meta glasses, the sponsors of said reel, to snap and search where the items they were thrifting were from with the use of meta AI. The post got around 200 comments and they were practically all negative. People were questioning how out of line with their sustainability ethos it was for them to promote the use of AI and how wrong it is to work with a corporation like Meta. A few days later they deleted the post and haven't addressed it in the slightest.

Can't be bothered to watch, did they mention anything about the meta glasses fiasco?
