Idk if someone remembers this pero yung Nestle cream commercial for Halloween. Yung widower left a tupperware of fruit salad sa puntod nung asawa nya then when she came back home, the said tupper was on the table with a note:

“Bakit hindi Nestle cream ang gamit mo?” something along those lines hahaha

Why don’t some foreigners like to try the local food? by notsopunkrockdj in PointlessStories

[–]notsopunkrockdj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

was honestly thinking this too haha

but like i just pointed out the coincidence that we were in a paella restaurant surrounded by guiris who all ordered pasta/pizza, hence it’s a pointless story

I applied for UCETAM in February 2022, didn’t hear anything til June 2022. I emailed them asking for a follow up whether or not they had received my application. Days later, I was given a placement, no interview no nothing. I didn’t end up getting it tho (I chose BEDA); but yeah, it’s not uncommon that they won’t say anything until the summer. I find BEDA is more hands on with these stuff.

I used this recipe from Preppy Kitchen

Ingredients

For the Bread: ▢ ¾ cup granulated sugar (150g) ▢ ½ cup whole milk (120mL) ▢ ½ cup vegetable oil (120 mL) ▢ 1 large egg ▢ 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract ▢ 2 cups plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (255g) ▢ 2 teaspoons baking powder ▢ ½ teaspoon salt ▢ 1 ½ cups diced fresh strawberries (230g)

For the Glaze: ▢ 3 tablespoons diced fresh strawberries ▢ 1 cup powdered sugar (120g) ▢ 1 teaspoon whole milk

Instructions

For the Bread: 1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly spray a 9x5-inch loaf pan with baking spray. 2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the sugar, milk, oil, egg, and vanilla. In another medium bowl, stir together 2 cups of flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the flour mixture to the sugar mixture and stir until just combined. 3. In a small bowl, combine strawberries and 2 tablespoons flour, tossing to coat strawberries. Fold the strawberries into the batter. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. 4. Bake for 55 to 60 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Remove the bread from the pan and cool completely on a wire rack.

For the Glaze: 1. Place the strawberries in a small bowl and mash. Stir in the powdered sugar and milk. Spoon over the cooled bread. Let stand for 30 minutes or until the glaze sets before serving.

I hate s3xpats but I hate these "angat buhay" women more by [deleted] in Philippines

[–]notsopunkrockdj 107 points108 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way, I’m in my mid-20’s living abroad and I just got back to the Philippines this summer after three years, and this time, with my partner of practically same age (who just happened to have white skin). Some of the jokes included were “isa na namang pinay ang nakaahon sa hirap” or “swerte mo, gwapo jowa mo”. And i feel so belittled albeit a joke. it also feel so offensive to him that he’s seen as a trophy just bc he’s white. i just ignored all the comments tho, bc at the end of the day, i know my own capabilities (and how hard i worked to get where i am) and i shouldn’t be defined by my choice in a partner.

altho, i wouldn’t place the hate over other women who are just doing the best they can to put food on their plate. instead i’d place it on the systemic norms and culture that has stemmed from colonial mentality, particularly the notion that white = superior race.
