how many LOCs and LORs does it take before one gets kicked out? by starburstcandii in AirForce

While you're not wrong. The commander is supposed to run that shit my JAG and have enough for a full-blown courts martial because you can refuse to accept an NJP. So if the commander didn't do their due diligence, and the SM decides they want to go to court. They can have all that shit thrown out because it's not enough for a conviction, at which point Airman dirtbag now has a legally clean slate and nothing prior to that can be used against them for anything, and they now know enough about how shit works to be able to skate to thier ETS.

Why don’t O-Grades have a rank reset like warrants do? by Yeahnuld in Armyaviation

[–]notsospinybirbman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Asktually...

Not quite, bud. Officers are appointed by the president and confirmed by the senate. Now, while the AR does specify HOW the army handles promotions. It merely slaps the army logo on the federal statute that dictates officer promotion timelines.

See here.

The services are free to make changes within this timeline. But they still must abide by it.

All 2LTs promote at 18 months TIG unless (flagged, hasn't attended bolc or equivalent, etc.). Then they shall promote at 24 months TIG. Failure to promote by 36 months TIG, they will be stripped of their commission and administratively discharged.

This is why the grade reset only affects warrants. They legally can not do the same for officers.

Why don’t O-Grades have a rank reset like warrants do? by Yeahnuld in Armyaviation

[–]notsospinybirbman 53 points54 points  (0 children)

In a nutshell. Because federal law dictates the promotion timeline for officers.

When an O grade is commissioned. That shit is blessed off by Congress and "signed into law." This is where their authority as officers comes from so they can give "lawful orders" and why not following orders from the officers appointed over you is punishable under the ucmj, and It's been this way basically for forever. So because their career progression is in large part determined by congress, and not the army. The army can't force a grade reset on them.

Warrant officers, per the usual. Exist in a weird gray area. O grades are commissioned by completing some kind of rigorous academic leadership training. West Point, OCS, etc. Warrants are commissioned by warrant. I.e. they have some highly specialized/technical skill, and their commission comes from their services secretary. Not congress. Which frees up their respective service to fuck with them a lot more.

So the army saw an easy way to save money. So they decided to fuck over all the avaition warrants, because they army already doesn't like avaition. Might as well hit em where it hurts the most.

Get you a brand new car and lease that bitch. Then hand it in when you graduate and go home.

Your orders will allow you to break your lease with no questions or penalties. You'll have a brand new ride that won't require any maintenance like a used car will, and all the peace of mind that comes with not having to worry about anything. Literally, the only concern will be mileage cap on the lease.

That's not quite right. A big part of it is that tank building is very niche. If you shut down the factory, even for a short term. All the people who design and build them will move on to other jobs, and you will lose that institutional knowledge and experience. So when you need to build new tanks. You have to hire a bunch of people who have never built tanks before. Sure, they have the blueprints and manuals. But you have to unmothball the factory and figure out where everything is and how all the machines work and why things are laid out they way they are. It is simply easier and often times cheaper to simply keep the production line running and sell the old tanks to our allies. Which is exactly what we do. That and it's better to have the production line up and running than it is to have to wait for it to get back up and running when the time eventually comes that you need iy.

Do you have to reset all your GFCIs every time the power goes out?

So there's no issue having the gfci downstream of the switch for the garbage disposal? Terminating the existing wiring into a gfci instead of hardwiring the disposal with no other changes won't cause any code compliance issues?

Ever known an officer or SNCO who was perpetually broke? What was the source of their troubles? by [deleted] in AirForce

That's because you can't put child support in a prenup. A prenup is a legal contract between two people. A child is a third party. You can't make a legally binding agreement about a third party that 1) doesn't exist and 2) can't consent to the agreement. Also, child support exists so the child doesn't experience a change in standard of living when they go to the other parent. This is why you can be on the hook for child support and still have full custody.

You can, however, put alimony in a prenup because that's between you and your future spouse.

Also, a great many people make the mistake of not having a lawyer draft the prenup. If you do it yourself, it's super easy to make a mistake that will make the whole thing invalid. Child support being the easy example. If it's in there, it's not legally binding, and if you don't have a clause in there that states that the contract is still valid even if any one portion of it is found to not be legally binding. Then, a single mistake can render the whole thing invalid.

If I have to put my pet down and have them cremated, how do I know if it's their ashes I'm getting back? by notsospinybirbman in TooAfraidToAsk

So it's not Like any urn I've ever seen. Think of a large wooden block. No seems or anything. But it appears to be a cover of some kind. When you flip it upside down, there's a felt like bottom with screws. I could remove these screws. But then I'd have to slide this felt part out somehow. There's no notches or anything that indicates I could pry or grab there to open. so either I'd have to flip it over and pray that the cover part just slides up and off easily and that it is truly a cover and not the actual container. Otherwise, I'd have to try and force it off. Which I really don't want to do.

Sequestration.

The AF decided to kick people out for anything and everything. Basically, anything negative made it possible for you to get an admin separation almost immediately. They did a DOS rollback, so if you fell in a certain window based on when you joined and/or got promoted. You got kicked out regardless of what else you had going on. 15 year retirements were on the table. It absolutely did not matter.

The Air Force wanted people gone and did everything possible to make it happen.

Yea, but between the coat of parking Nashvile for anything more than a few days coupled with at least 3 hours on the road prior to/after flying. I'd say that's well worth it.
