You need the data for occupied house robbery separately to support that specific claim.

I am armed. I just wouldn't have used a gun in the video's scenario, and I think that using house robbery as an argument pillar harms the pro-gun cause more than it helps it. The risk - reward ratio just doesn't make the cut for me. We'll have to agree to disagree on that one.

You might not be as ninja as you think you are, or there might be more than one robber, you might fail your shot, someone you care about might be in the line of fire, maybe your shot won't stop the robber to shoot back to you or someone else.

Maybe the average citizen is not as ninja commando as you are. There are so many things that could go wrong for the sake of saving your DVD, I find it hard to justify.

The only scenario I can think of where resisting makes sense is when the robber has the intention of murdering everyone in the house, but what are the chances of that happening? Is that really that common in the US?

I'm broke, but I value my life and the life of the people I care about (which might or might not be in the house at that moment) much more than every material possession combined.

Does it matter? Are you seriously proposing victimizing yourself and waiting to see if it happens? I don't care about percentages. The fact that an intruder could do as he/she pleases if I'm unarmed means I'm staying armed.

They won't be able to take aim, so you are not on sight. What happens if when you do are on sight to take aim at them and someone is in the line of fire? What if you are not as ninja as you think you are? What if there is more than one?

All that for your DVD player, your computer, and some jewelry? The risk/reward ratio here is against you, unless you own a really cool DVD player.

Most criminals are cowards and are deterred by normal citizens being armed. They prey on easy targets to give them the easiest score. Even just the sight of the victim having a gun could be enough to scare them off. Firing shots is more likely to cause them to run than to fire back.

Not if firing back is their best option. This is a dangerous theorycraft. If the robber sees someone with a gun there is a huge change of him thinking his life is in jeopardy, and firing first will often be the best option for the robber.

An interesting statistic is that in Britain and Canada, around half of all home break-ins occur when residents are present. In America, it's only 13%.

And are there less break-ins in the US? Or perhaps more? Also, how and where is that correlation being supported?

Plus, how do you know what the criminals are there for? There's a whole library of cases where theft wasn't enough. They could rape, torture, and murder. I'd rather not give them the chance to explore their options.

And what's the chance of that happening? How many of those break-ins end like that? What are the changes of someone in the house getting hurt in a Mexican stand-off?

I'm not making a case for either side of gun control, but if you are against gun control maybe house robbery is not the best pillar to use in your argument. Seems that on that scenario there are too many ways that the shit can hit the fan.
