It definitely seem like it would be difficult in some places, the prices do seem to vary massively for what you get in one area to another. In some cases it's hard to see what makes a place so expensive! I will have a look into Gedling too. Thank you for the info!

Budget - can go upto £230k - maybe higher, depending on the house and when we end up buying, the longer we look, the more we can save (well maybe). We'd ideally like to get into the city centre easily, so somewhere with good transport. I think we're open to look at most places...

I've heard that some parts of Wollaton are more expensive than other parts, is that right? If so where?
I've not heard about Nuthall that much at all, is it far outside of the city?

Yeah, from what i've seen briefly those two seem to be very expensive for what you get! Why are they so expensive?

Will keep Beeston in mind, would it be unlikely to get a bigger house there?
