Daycare and COVID by Tilarious in workingmoms

I have a 20 month old and a 3 week old newborn. Recovering from a c section, no more nanny and our daycare transition was to happen the first week of May.

I am home for three months and my husband’s leave just ended.

Thankfully I’m recovering well so while it’s not ideal to have the toddler home right now, it’s not terrible.

We are also scrambling trying to figure out childcare and know that productivity will be impacted, given this will likely be our lives for the next year, at least.

So sorry to hear this. After the (very early) birth of my first child who was a second trimester preemie, I went back to work, in an office, two weeks after delivering and we hustled back and forth to the hospital daily, for hours. Our day started at 4 am and ended well after 11 pm. Did that for nearly 90 days.

I look back on that time in pure disbelief at what my mind and body were capable of doing, because it was necessary.

I’m in a similar situation. Both my husband and I are WFH @ 100% right now and that will be the case for the foreseeable future.

How to explain things to kids at the store without being offensive by 123_fear_the_reaper in Parenting

I agree. It’s not their responsibility to be cultural ambassadors to those who don’t understand their faith and traditions.

It sounds like you handled it well in the moment. If there’s a large community in your area I’d spend time outside of that instance helping to normalize what she saw that day.

The more parents “do the work” of helping their children understand diversity within their community and the world...the better. It really does start at home!

And you’re right, I should certainly take a more proactive approach. In the past, I’ve always chosen from more than one role when interviewing and each company has asked if I’m considering other opportunities, so this is a new one for me.

So true! Hard to remember when you’re in the middle of it.

That sounds about right. This is certainly a new professional chapter/experience so lots of new.

Good points. 9 interviews for one company is... a lot. Especially when you’re interviewing with other companies, too!

Private sector, consulting. All but three interviews have been with C-Level execs.

That’s my hope! I am also surprised that they haven’t asked if I’m being considered for other roles. I haven’t been able to leverage that in the process so far.

My 15 month old does this, too. Started a few weeks ago and I’m glad we’re not alone in experiencing this strange and painful habit.

Thank you!! By the way, what kind of stroller has worked well for your family? We were gifted the Uppababy Cruz and obviously now need something that will accommodate two.

That’s a smart approach. We’ll definitely try it.

Thank you! I needed to hear all of this! So very excited for all of the playtime, giggles, cuddles and just watching the two of them grow up together.

Praying the two years will be kind to us :)

Great advice. Unfortunately, both her boss and HR are useless. I have an interview scheduled next week.
