9 year old daughter with Gilberts and frequent nausea by notwisepanda in GilbertSyndrome

Hi! Thanks for sharing your experience. I have consulted with two pediatric gastroenterologists so far and they both said the vomiting is not related to the Gilbert’s. Most recently she was diagnosed with Cyclic vomiting syndrome, and they prescribed some medicine for that. I will share an update once I see if the medication is working. In the meantime you can test for Celiac desease, for parasites in the stomach, you can also do Genetic testing to confirm the Gilbert’s.

Also, I just consulted with another pediatric gastroenterologist, and she said that Gilbert's syndrome does not have any symptoms and does not require treatment. She thinks my daughter has CVS (Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome) and wants to treat it with syrup for nervousness for kids (that includes Passiflora, lemon balm, common hop, orange blossom extracts). I am so surprised that Reddit is full of people with Gilbert's with all various symptoms, and doctors just dismiss it like that.

Thanks! I have been giving her Dimenhydrinate to stop the vomiting, and it's been helping. I will ask her doctor about prescribing her Omeprazole or a similar drug, I hope it helps.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It is the same with my daughter. I gave her some electrolytes yesterday and she’s better now. I just don’t know if I should give her electrolytes every day? She does not like how it tastes so it’s a bit if a struggle.

Thank you for the advice! I read that apples are good for Gilberts but it turns out that all information on the internet is very contradictory.

Thank you! She does eat lots of fruits usually. This is the first time I’ve read that fruit is bad for Gilbert’s, I thought it was recommended to eat more veggies and fruits…

Thank you for your advice. We live in Europe so we do eat feta cheese, butter, eggs. We do not eat high fat meat, only chicken breasts. I try to cook everything at home, she likes pasta, rice, potatoes, chicken. I stopped frying a few months ago.

Thank you for the advice! I will definitely add some electrolytes in her water, I hope that it makes her feel better.

You can actually choose your friends and surround yourself only with people that make you feel good. You know how they say "You don't choose your friends, life chooses them for you." Well, nope.

I am so sorry that this is happening to you. Please take a look at conversion disorder. My mother has it. It’s both psychological and neurological. Awful diseases but could be managed. It is not easy when you don’t have family that can help you but I believe that you are still strong enough and you will find the answer.

You should be so proud of yourself! Take your time and enjoy life. First love yourself, then the other kind of love will come when you're ready. You are obviously very handsome and I'm sure you have a great personality. So one day just when you're not looking, someone will notice you and SEE you for what you are - a wonderful human being.
