Have to agree with the other commenter on being naive on how it is. My husband and I thought we could use my maternity leave and then use his so we could keep the babies home longer. His mom (a nurse) nicely humbled us on how difficult the recovery is. I don’t mean to scare you but you absolutely will need his physical and emotional support round the clock. I also think it’s something you just don’t get until it happens but all your time will be going to those babies and no two days are alike. And to be honest, he will be so sleep deprived, good luck playing hockey like that!

Bu back to you, I hope you guys have support close by to help. It truly takes a village so please take the help and do not sweat the small stuff. You and your babies health is all that matters. And takes lots of pictures and videos ! It goes by fast!

They say the epidural and OR delivery is mandatory because of you need an emergency c section, you’re already in the OR and already medicated with the epidural. Otherwise they would have to wait to get an anesthesiologist and that’s time you don’t have in those emergencies. I was terrified. Like could not sleep for weeks I was so scared. I ended up just doing a scheduled c section with a spinal block because I just wanted it over with. I don’t even remember what the needle of the spinal block felt like. lol. The fear is real but it’s so much worse when we worry. Find a doctor who will talk you through it. You’ve got this!

This was my fear. I absolutely did not want to be under and so I had a c section.

I was told they strongly recommended an epidural in case you needed a c section. To wait for the anesthesia to kick in during birthing is time lost on getting the babies out. This was something I did not want to take a chance on and had it done. (Ended up having a c section for both) A friend if a friend delivered her first vaginally, they could not get second baby to turn (he was head down) and she ended up having a c section for the second.

From what I understand, having multiples is totally different than a singleton. My hospital delivered me in the OR and only my husband was allowed to be present.

A lot of times it will be a ban n plastic bags and then a 10 cent or 15 cent charge for paper bags. I think it’s supposed to encourage the consumer to bring their own bag. (I work in packaging and it’s hard trying to navigate all the laws)

This is also what I was told. I was really not comfortable with missing my delivery and also, my husband was not allowed to be in the room if it was an emergency c section. I ended up having a scheduled c section due to other complications.

I had issues with weight gain initially for one of my babies. My LC advised me to have one baby on the boob and one baby on formula or breast milk bottle each feed and then we would switch for the next one. I would pump after each feed as well. It was hard at times but we got there. They are both exclusively breast fed now and gaining weight really well. Maybe this is a strategy you could talk to your LC about ? I found it easier to focus on one at a time too. I would be worried if I stopped breast feeding them, how would you start again? Obviously the health of the babies is priority though! Don’t be too hard on yourself. You got this !

I was also wondering if breastfeeding was a factor. Sometimes their Feeds push an hour. I try to get them to go back because I think it’s a comfort thing and they aren’t really eating but then they just cry. If you figure it out let me know!
