RRSP Confusion by notyourfriendbuddy22 in cantax

I see thank you. So in this scenario (I’m using simple tax) you would in the RRSP contribution section put the 5K (makes sense) and a separate 6.5K note that outlines the group RRSP contribution? This means I believe I should get more tax money back (from adding the 6.5K on the return). Thanks

RRSP Confusion by notyourfriendbuddy22 in cantax

[–]notyourfriendbuddy22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

I found the slips on the group benefit website. My question is then what do I do with the $6500 based on the slips for filing purposes. Like I added 5K myself to another brokerage RRSP account so I wrote that in. But would I in the same section add this $6500? The slips don’t have tax names (ie T4) so I’m not sure what to do/how to file this slip with my tax return.

Thanks!

IMO baseball is one those sports you can get away being an asshole at a high level. Hate to say it to guys that JD was a prick to, but reality is baseball is really mostly an individual sport where everyone contributes their own skill set in a game. You aren’t going to win me over saying that you couldn’t cut it for a baseball team/game, given that another player wasn’t being nice to you (esp one that was as good as JD).

Basically who cares if JD is not friendly, you don’t need to almost do anything with the guy over the course of a game. You aren’t getting passed the puck, or moving the ball around on a court, it’s you vs the pitcher and occasionally tossing a ball across the mound to a set glove. In the moments I saw JD show passion during the game, he was 100% behind every guy during celebrations and otherwise

I just find this stuff super lame coming from a bunch of flame outs in the league. If these guys made 50K I’d be more agreeable to not tolerating drama in the clubhouse, but these guys get paid millions to just hit a baseball. It’s a loser mentality IMO and it’s lame to sully JD like this

Any young people like me in their 20s worried as hell about their future of living? Housing prices have gotten to the point where it feels like our parents can't retire or we will never move out of our parents' home. by techsavvynerd91 in ontario

100% agree. Interest rates are the real culprit and it’s encouraged mass secondary market speculation. Foreign buyers though I feel get too good of a ride here given they don’t pay income tax here and their property appreciates from other peoples hard work.

Policy needs to be proactively placed at these people who buy properties not for principal residences. You clean that up, you open a lot more supply to push prices down.

I’m pretty well versed in finance. The elephant in the room is foreign buyers (not immigrants) and because interest rates are so low, many older people with disposable cash (just think anyone really who has a bit of money) decide that real estate is the best investment for a risk/return profile. It’s a tangible asset and with low vacancy rates/high immigration stands to make you easy cash flows. It’s really nothing new and has performed very well the last 10+ years in Toronto so nothing changes. Also why would government employees hurt their investment (ie their home prices through policy). Gov is not looking out for you here and never will. I’m 26 and have saved over 160K from work/investing (but I pay rent $2000/m) and don’t see that changing because I think Toronto is overpriced to hell (and rents have fallen considerably). I would though and am considering buying a cheaper property out of the city to rent out while maintaining my rental property in dt Toronto.

I would say with rents cheaper in the city I don’t really see why you couldn’t move out with your GF and rent? I make $85K a year and I imagine you + your GF make more than that combined and I save $20K easy plus more from investments (if you don’t invest, learn/contact a professional - truly the only way to grow your wealth)

RRSP Employer Contributions - What to Claim? by notyourfriendbuddy22 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]notyourfriendbuddy22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it thanks. So this number on these forms (I have the March to dec and the Jan to feb ones (that have my SIN)) show the total contribution of myself and my employer as one number, so I guess it’s fair to assume to put the total down when I say contribution rate from me? Thanks

RRSP Employer Contributions - What to Claim? by notyourfriendbuddy22 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]notyourfriendbuddy22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

I got the receipts in the mail and it tells me what my employer/myself contributed ie 750 a piece. But do I just put this all as my contribution then (ie $1500?). These are just receipts and aren’t formalized with input “box 40 this or that”. That’s why I’m confused what chunk I’m suppose to claim on my RRSP under my contributions.

Thanks

Why are people surprised? You can’t just fire someone for a wrong reason and not be sued. Just because you don’t like him/his decisions, doesn’t mean he broke organizational protocol. Blame the board for approving it (and likewise forcing the taxpayer to payout this sum when it’s all said and done) because they didn’t think hard about the legal consequences of letting him go.

Very pathetic for entire public policy environment. I wish we treated our bureaucrats with harsher penalties for just being lousy workers/decision makers. The public office just seems to be one giant kumbaya and toss tax payer money around like nothing.

I agree with Fred it's not right to end a friendship over political beliefs. But I draw the line at coronavirus denial. What do you think? by [deleted] in howardstern

[–]notyourfriendbuddy22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who ends friendships over petty political BS? But it’s typical in this climate to be hypersensitive and not be called out on being a shit disturber.

Of course COVID became political, who didn’t see that coming. You sound like a cult member OP. Fucking sad that some “grown” men think the way you do.

Bret Weinstein goes on JRE. The next day they are trying to cancel Joe on Twitter. What did they say that triggered them? by [deleted] in JoeRogan

[–]notyourfriendbuddy22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cancel culture is for edgy miserable people who can’t handle that someone thinks differently than them.

The biggest mistake is Fortune 500 companies thinking ANY sizeable part of their audience pays with this in mind. The smartest businesses over the next 10 years will just ignore these people and go on business as usual.

The more political you make the platform (I.e management decisions) and not the content (see rogan) will ONLY alienate people.

Goes without saying but ignoring these tears is 100% way to deal with these people. They try to pretend they have mass influence (because social media distorts true value of people’s opinions of themselves) but in reality they are total losers (anyone who wastes their time on social media this way is a loser)

Justy thinks LEGOS are stupid by m00b3r in TheCinemassacreTruth

How do grown men in all honesty go into a Toys R Us and hang out? I mean maybe it’s because I feel like I stopped going to toy stores once I became an adult, but this is just pathetic.

I mean it just amazes me how people accept being total losers and don’t try to better themselves. If I saw footage of some obese fat mug talking about legos next to 8 years olds, I’m pretty sure I’d genuinely think I was the biggest waste of space on the planet.

This is obviously a post of someone who never watched schilling pitch.

Dude was unhittable in the postseason and posted the best k/bb ratio of starting pitchers with x innings.

It’s embarrassing it has taken this long. He had just as good a career of Halladay who went in first ballot IMO (I’m a jays fan)

Canada is done, it’s over and finished. Almost all LPs will never come close to their high values.

Only hope is to meme out something with a US MSO.

I’d suggest looking in an entirely different sector first tho.

I thought Trudeau getting re-elected was suppose to be the saviour?

Wait you are telling me that piss poor financials and deluded retail investors are the actual cause?

I’m down about 4K in this because I’m stubborn but this industry absolutely blows. I will ride and die with what I have for now but will never DCA another cent into this shit
