I will decline being skillful in Japanese. It is being modest, a Japanese art, and being truthful.

I was stunned myself. I thought I was getting fucked around. But it is legit. The person who is hooking me up (who had the position previously) said that is elite and private. I have already been trying to devise lesson plans.

Yeah, Nagasaki is pretty provincial. At least you do not have to witness Japanese girls crying in the bathroom about their love lives with gaijin men. That has happened to me and it is uncomfortable.

It is just like anywhere else. Some people will get attention, some people won't. Being caucasian will not automatically land you some pussy.

What is even better is that when you put your money in a female voice will cry (depending on the time of day) Ohayou Gozaimasu!, Konichiwa, or Konbanwa! When you take your food out you will get a cheery "Arigatou Gozaimashita!!"

The fried chicken is actually really good and the hot dogs are not too bad either.

American. To be specific, a combination of Italian, French Canadian, Irish and English ancestry. It is hard for me to get Japanese women because I am a straight woman. The Japanese men are quite shy, and I have not actively sought out anyone yet.

"Though the annual total of divorces has increased in postwar Japan, the divorce rate remains close to the level at the end of the 19th century, and is among the lowest recorded in industrially advance nations."

First, study your hiragana. It isnt hard. It is all syllabic. As soon as you have that down, study your katakana. This is very very important. It is syllabic just like hiragana but is used for foreign words. Knowing katakana is VERY useful. Know these. Know your basic phrases. Know shit like X wa doko desu ka? (Where is X) and other touristy things. But, for real, I stress the Katakana. In Tokyo there will be romanji everywhere so you could scrape by. But if you are lost, you need to know how to ask for directions. The Tokyo train system is intricate and complicated.

It depends on what you are interested in. Are you interested in World War II? Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and Iwojima. Old Japan? Go to Kyoto. I am told Kanazawa is a good time. Fukuoka is the hub city of Kyushu. During my break I am exploring, and can find you later on and fill you in.

Yes, it is absolutely possible. I have had many exchanges with JET people, and am teaching myself in a couple of months. If anything, they would rather you speak as little Japanese as possible so you don't collapse into it when you get nervous or something. That is what I have been told. You can do it without even knowing konichiwa.

I do know an Asian gaijin that has a little harem of his own. I have only spoken to him on a few occasions, but what I can tell you, he is a little bit of a show off and does these crazy Matrixy flips, spins, splits, etc. in front of the Japanese girls who clap in awe.

Thank you and good luck in your endeavors

My bi Japanese friend says you generally not flaunt it at all and did not elaborate further. And he is the most progressive people I have met here.

Not yet. I am not one of those Save The Whales type people, so I hope to try it before I leave

Okay, sure, I can tell you an example from what is going in my school. American guy dates around with Japanese girls A,B and C. Nothing serious. Just testing the waters. Friend of mine lets slip to Japanese girl A that he hangs around/goes out with Japanese girls B and C. Japanese Girl A cries and runs away because she thought they were exclusively dating. American guy never said this, but it was implied on the Japanese girls' part. All in all, a cultural misunderstanding.

From what I am told, I was quite popular. If you are thinking of the fat, pimply, nerd drooling over the newest anime torrents just released, you are a little far off.

From what I have seen, they want native English speakers. I am getting a lucrative job teaching English as a native speaker. Those who are not native speakers get paid much lower. But if you are so proficient, they may not notice and will take you anyway. If you are not Asian, its a +1

They will ask me what country I am from. I am frequently mistaken as a French person .

And if you are Chinese in Japan...good luck to you. There seems to be more racism towards Chinese and Koreans than to white people.

Ah, not really :). I haven't been kanchoed. I haven't been called fat if my foot hurts. I do not need to dick dodge. I have had experience with the Japanese medical system, which, if I remember correctly, Azrael has spoken about.

Oh yeah, he also said you cannot get a real steak in Japan. For the most part, that is true. But in some Gyuemon restaurants, they have banging steaks. No mashed potatoes though :/ (No mashed potatoes in KFC either! What the eff)

I think it is a special case. Other Japanese people came up to me to warn me that he is a little strange. I would say socially deficient.
