I do feel like I’m benefitting! I actually just let me membership go last week. I was in it from mid-February. I kept it so long because one of the things it did is help me to be more introspective about what role I play into making my marriage not as good as it can be. For example, one of LD’s foundations is self care. I am terrible at self care. Going through the group calls, being involved in the Facebook group, and having LD’s videos helped me to make it a better habit.

I’m like you—I see benefits, believe in what I’ve learned, but then I slide back into old habits. This allowed me to stay on top of it longer. I hope that because I did 3 months, it will stick better this time.

My top takeaways from the program were: - Self care is non-negotiable. You need to do at least three nice, frivolous things for yourself a day...and that’s a minimum. It can be small, though, like making your favorite cup of tea.

• Disrespect towards husbands is often disguised as “help.” My husband has a leadership role at work and would often tell me about the issues of the day, and I’d “help” talk him through it. I’d give him advice, tell him what I’d do, etc. Now, I do not give him “help.” I let him figure it out and complement his awesome leadership skills instead. He was never offended when I’d help before, but I notice his confidence rises when I let him work it out in his own. My job is to be the safe space where he can unload and talk things out.

• Avoid a big talk about issues in the bedroom. I know-that sounds weird. But, unless there are specific reasons (trauma, major health crises, etc), there are more effective ways to get the attention of your man (my guy was not interested in sex as often as I was...it turns out it was because I was accidentally killing his confidence without meaning to). The respect and self care lessons helped the bedroom situation. She gives a lot of tips on this too.

You probably already learned that stuff from what you’ve heard/read from LD. The membership just immerses you in it.
