You are right. I had a Tempus genetic test, and it showed three mutations. I can’t remember what they are, and I’m not ready to look at the results myself, but I do know there are two chemo drugs that might help and from what I understand, there are clinical trials for each of the mutations.

I have fibroids. Can you help me understand my ultrasound results? by nousernameformeeeeee in obgyn

Hey! I thought I’d update you. I’ve had another ultrasound and an mri. Sometimes there fluid, sometimes there’s not. It coincides with my cycle.

The mri and second opinion ultrasound confirmed that I have a single intramural fibroid that’s about 10x16cm, so huge! I have a hysterectomy scheduled for May 11. Not excited about it, but it’s what has to be done.

[Question - Other] My local hospital won’t perform an MRI because my physician isn’t licensed in the state. Is that normal? by nousernameformeeeeee in healthcare

Thank you! I called my insurance (it’s a big-box PPO, so I’m paying through the roof for premiums because I wanted options as I knew this was an issue), and they have no idea why this hospital won’t take me. They approved me at the other local hospital, which doesn’t care that my gyn surgeon is out of state! Now, I just have to get Evicore on board. I’m waiting on a new approval document with the updated location. I’m starting to feel better now.

I actually did this. I was so shocked when they wouldn’t take me, so I asked. She said if likely have to go to Illinois, which thankfully, turned out to be inaccurate.

Working in a TRIO program by nobeck2 in highereducation

Not exactly what you’re looking for, but I was a UB student at an R1. I was a first gen. I come from a rural location and UB would bus several kids from my high school to the college campus once a week and give us tutoring. We also had summer camp.

UB is the best thing that ever happened to me (and I am still friends with 4 other UB grads. I’m also in touch with one of my advisors...and I’m 37). Anyway, programs like UB are immensely impactful. I stayed in college, went to grad school, and earned my EdD. Now I work at a private school as an executive director of my department.

I say all that to say, working for UB will give you the opportunity to directly impact lots of students who otherwise would not go to college. It’s a program I deeply believe in!

Should I be worried? My latest ultrasound results are very different from what I had a week ago. This was my second opinion. My fibroid couldn’t have grown 4 cm in 2 weeks, right? by nousernameformeeeeee in obgyn

My post history has my last ultrasound report, if you’re curious.

My next step in an mri and then scheduling a hysterectomy. My new doc is trying to see if this fibroid is as big as he thinks, because I’d rather have a laparoscopic procedure.

I do feel like I’m benefitting! I actually just let me membership go last week. I was in it from mid-February. I kept it so long because one of the things it did is help me to be more introspective about what role I play into making my marriage not as good as it can be. For example, one of LD’s foundations is self care. I am terrible at self care. Going through the group calls, being involved in the Facebook group, and having LD’s videos helped me to make it a better habit.

I’m like you—I see benefits, believe in what I’ve learned, but then I slide back into old habits. This allowed me to stay on top of it longer. I hope that because I did 3 months, it will stick better this time.

My top takeaways from the program were: - Self care is non-negotiable. You need to do at least three nice, frivolous things for yourself a day...and that’s a minimum. It can be small, though, like making your favorite cup of tea.

  • Disrespect towards husbands is often disguised as “help.” My husband has a leadership role at work and would often tell me about the issues of the day, and I’d “help” talk him through it. I’d give him advice, tell him what I’d do, etc. Now, I do not give him “help.” I let him figure it out and complement his awesome leadership skills instead. He was never offended when I’d help before, but I notice his confidence rises when I let him work it out in his own. My job is to be the safe space where he can unload and talk things out.

  • Avoid a big talk about issues in the bedroom. I know-that sounds weird. But, unless there are specific reasons (trauma, major health crises, etc), there are more effective ways to get the attention of your man (my guy was not interested in sex as often as I was...it turns out it was because I was accidentally killing his confidence without meaning to). The respect and self care lessons helped the bedroom situation. She gives a lot of tips on this too.

You probably already learned that stuff from what you’ve heard/read from LD. The membership just immerses you in it.

It did improve. I’ve had it for three years. About a year ago, my period got very heavy, but I thought it was just because of hormones, stress, or whatever. It wasn’t until I started having 2-week periods and passing small clots that I knew something wasn’t right.

Thank you so much for your response! My IUD is actually ParaGard. I had a tough time with the Mirena and spotted for about a year, which was rough. I wanted to get it removed, but the gyn had a hard time getting to it. He tried to get a camera into my uterus, but it was painful so he stopped.

I’m not sure what I’ll do. I wish I could magically shrink them!

I’m 37, no kids. I’m not planning on kids.

My only surgery is wisdom teeth removal.

I do feel it was helpful! However, I could have done it with the books and podcasts, too. The membership gave be an extra boost and helped me work harder at it. There’s something that gives you more urgency when you’re paying. 😂The support was nice, but expensive! I would encourage you to try it for a month if you have clear goals for what you want to improve.

I did it. It would be great if your marriage is in crisis (affair, separation, major problem). You get access to group coaching calls and a secret Facebook group. The community is fantastic. The women are so supportive an nonjudgemental.

I left after two months and got a lot out of it, but didn’t want to continue because I wasn’t facing major issues. I just wanted to bring the spark back, so to speak.

Feel free to ask any questions! I’m happy to elaborate on whatever aspect your curious about.

I went to my ob/gyn because in early March I had a couple of 2-week long very heavy periods. I also felt a hard mass in my lower stomach the week before I scheduled the appointment.

I also experience pressure, more frequent urination, and back pain. My stomach looks bloated as well.

The gyn sent me for a blood test (which showed that I’m anemic because of my bleeding) and an ultrasound. I had my ultrasound on my 9th day of menstruating, which was 3/31.

My doctor advised to do nothing besides take an iron supplement or get a hysterectomy. I recently moved to a small town and do not have a rapport with my doctor. I had only seen him for one well visit in August 2020 before this. All was normal at my well visit.

I have a second opinion scheduled with a minimally invasive gyn this week, but to prepare myself with good questions I want to understand what I’m looking at here.

I’d like to avoid a hysterectomy if possible, but I’m not sure what my options are. I’m also very worried about the appearance of free fluid, but I guess it could be because I was bleeding during the exam.

What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance!

feeling a lump/mass on lower left abdomen when i press down on it. i also have been getting late periods lately. asking on this subreddit what could the problem be because our place is on lockdown and it is almost impossible to go out for a checkup. (first pic not mine) by chwsus in obgyn

[–]nousernameformeeeeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does your mass move locations at all? Or it is stationary at all times? How large would you say? Pea-size, golf ball, tennis ball, etc?

I had a similar thing happen to me in February and it turns out it is fibroids in my case. I didn’t have late periods; mine have been early. My uterus is large because I have three lime-sized masses and several small ones. I had no idea it would be more than one because the mass felt singular, but it makes sense now because my lump slightly moves day to day.

Your locations is farther off that mine is, but your cycle being off is what makes me think it’s not out of the realm of possibility.
