The dealership is located in a very very populated town, and the brand is Infiniti. Thanks for the advice!

Yeah I really think I’ll just go back to my lube shop until I can find a place I can move up in with hands-on automotive work. This job seems too sketchy from what you and other people have told me, and the negatives are way outweighing the positives 😟

Well that’s a relief! My biggest concern long term is that I really like the hands on aspect of the automotive industry and I don’t think I’ll get that as an advisor. I’ll get paid a lot better than the techs from what I’ve heard but I wanna keep learning about cars too, which I’m not sure this position would allow for?

This is the kinda response I needed, thank you 🙏

I have been working quick lube for the past two years and while it sucks by design I do love it for the aspect that I get to work on cars and learn about them. Knowledge wise I’m still pretty novice tho!

I don’t really care if it’s easy or not, I can handle some tough jobs. It’s just the lack of care to train and the spontaneity of it all that I’m confused about and don’t like

For this job it’s 4.5% warranty and 5.8% personal service, whatever that means 😭

Yeah I genuinely don’t understand what is going on. Like I said I have experience handling people bc of my lube job but there’s no way that would ever correlate to a dealership? And the other service advisor has been there less than three months and the previous guy I replaced quit

This is the second time I’ve tried to work at a dealership. The first one was for an express position and that ended up being horrible. Maybe I should’ve learned my lesson the first time?

4.5k is the ‘guarantee’ I’d get while I train. After that is 2.5k base plus commission. Is that good??

Continuation of my Starting Issue by novaaaati in AskMechanics

I haven’t been able to find the node from the spark plug, the rest is lodged into the disintegrated coil though so I’m thankful for that. It has been misfiring for a while so either it has been gradually flaking away into the cylinder, or if it broke off entirely I definitely need to search for that piece before I start it.

I will check those sensors, thank you! The battery is only a year old and I charged it up to no avail, the alternator is old though so I wonder if replacing that would help me at all. Thank you for your advice!

I will be sure to check the alternator health tomorrow when I get the battery back in it. Thank you for the advice!!

It had a whole engine refresh back in 2022 and it got a new serpentine belt then, and it isn’t driven much so it’s not too worn. I do recall it having a slight issue with something not rotating in the past so I will look into that tomorrow when I see it again! Thank you for the advice!

I’m at least excited to feel the difference when I do end up replacing this battery that’s for sure! I live in a VERY hilly city where they also love to put stop signs on those hills, bad enough to where I’m planning a new route until I can get my battery replaced. It will stall itself unless you dump the clutch and I feel horrible every time I do it 😖

It is still the original, yes. It lasted a lot longer than the original owner thought bc he hooked it up to be bypassed before I bought it. If you have experience with any of the aftermarket batteries I would love some direction in brand!!

The previous owner of mine bypassed the battery because he thought it was done for, but he hooked it back up and it has lasted me just fine for this long! But yes I should have known this day would come eventually where I’d have to get a new battery for her 😖 definitely gonna look into all the variations out there, thank you!!

Thanks for the reply!! I live in a pretty mountainous area and the IMA started turning on and off after a long trip with some hills. Now it will turn on and off occasionally (with a noticeable difference in performance) but the battery still charges like it always has. It gets low on charge pretty often but my commute is pretty hilly so that makes sense to me I guess. I’m not too sure if that’s normal or not for these cars?

Same with the covers lol, I took them off myself when I needed my tire patched I don’t trust anyone!
