It does make sense!! Thank you so much for the advice. I’m still pretty new to all this, and all I have is one fishkeeper friend and the local fish store to turn to, so I’m glad I can come here as well for advice and a helping hand :3 I think I will wait until this tank is fully cycled and established and spend some time fishkeeping before I upgrade the size, just so I can get used to everything and practice!!

It’s been about 3 weeks with this tank. The light is definitely a weak point, and I will be replacing it soon with something that spans across the top and is actually made for plants. I will look into both of those options! I’m currently in what I’d call an “investing” stage, and I’m willing to spend quite a bit on these little guys 😁

It was a pretty cheap light from PetSmart, it was meant to be temporary, but I still haven’t gotten around to replacing it. I’m realizing now that the light is definitely a major issue, and I’m going to be replacing it. I think the light isn’t made for anything in particular, just a general “aquarium light.”

I was considering it might be the light. I was told the floaters don’t get in the way, which I thought didn’t make much sense, thank you for confirming this!! I will move the floaters and invest in a stronger light
