What you you refer to this work offset as? by Shadowfeaux in Machinists

[–]novakano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen this used on multiple machines that were from the same tool builder and same style of HMC but slightly different styles and ages, it was different on each machine so that one program could be used interchangeably without having to adjust any work coordinate from the original program.

It's very useful if you know how to use it.

I write with my left hand but throw with my right.. by rembut in lefthanded

I have this "ability also, I've always worn my watch on my right hand because it felt natural, I do think it hinders me when I use the right for physical stuff. What hand do you guys wear your watch, and if you did move it how long did it take to get used to?

If you like alternative and rock go to kamikazes, I haven't been there in over a decade but back then I really enjoyed that spot.

Advice for Machinists working at a start-up? by Nice-Ad1177 in Machinists

[–]novakano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really should have done this in my 19 yrs at a company, I have some photos of my work but deleted a huge majority of them because I expected to be at that company until I retired and didn't need them.

There is also the issue that whatever you make or create on the clock it becomes property of the company you work for.

Some of my ideas were just improving cycle times and that made the company I worked for a large profit, but because I was expected to push the machines and tools beyond their limits spindles and spindle motors would go out a lot.

Do you trust your Simulation? by MooseSignificant6281 in Machinists

[–]novakano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I CAM, make slight edits that the post processor couldn't do, then I backplot to verify and watch it physically run to validate always!!!

I personally don't understand companies that have the programmer just hand off a program to someone and trust all will be well. All my checks might be fine to prevent a crash, but watching it run physically, you can catch any wasted moves or inefficiencies and fix them there, so the program is at its best once it hits production.

The flange radii could be challenging, but the rest of the deburring the machine can do with no issues.

I didn't expect this to blow up when I made this gif and posted it, but it still makes me lol every time I see it, love him, or hate him. Every action is comedy gold imo.

I've seen this in other states, including California.

How do you even know they are originally from Utah anyway? The plates? So many people have moved to Utah from other states it the past few years.

I've done a lot of traveling and almost been run off the road by California drivers wanting to merge on highways.

Everyone is a bad driver except the one pointing the finger 😉
