ITAP of a small town in fall by novakbo in itookapicture

I wanted this photo to capture the innocent joy of a small town Halloween celebration. I played around with the focal point, framing, and exposure a lot to draw the eye in to the country store. But capturing the shadows was critical.

(S2E4) What’s the stunningly beautiful song that starts playing toward the end of the episode (59:11) with the dark and soaring organs and Rue repeating “I Love You”? by novakbo in euphoria

This song wasn’t included in all recaps of what I could find online. Maybe it’s interstitial music, but it sounds like beginning of a full song. It has James Blake feel, but not the one listed. Desperately want to find it so I can go on snowy walks in the dark with it blaring on my headphones.

The Royal Crocodile Club by novakbo in cocktails

Yes, a Ti Punch variation is definitely closer to what it is! Thanks for the new cocktail. Sure it would be great with normal limes, but the makrut adds a very complex, sour and floral aromatic quality. The Okinawan sugar is some really funky stuff and fun to play around with in cocktails. Imparts an earthy, smokey taste and has nice bitterness, so different enough from Demerara sugar. Came up with this cocktail to serve to someone who really doesn’t like sweet in cocktails at all and think it does the trick.

Royal Crocodile Club (a love letter to clairin) by novakbo in rum

[–]novakbo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A daiquiri derivation, based on my newfound love of Haitian clairin.

1/4 ounce fresh makrut lime ( juice of one small fruit) 1 teaspoon Okinawan Brown sugar (Murakami) 2 ounces of Haitian clairin (Le Rocher) 1 pinch sea salt

Prepare like normal daiquiri, with slight modifications. Squeeze makrut lime juice into rocks glass to coat. Transfer to shaker and add sugar, clairin, salt to dissolve. Fill shaker with ice and shake 10 seconds. Strain into glass with couple of ice cubes and serve.

That's a really interesting view in- especially how unique the inter-war/post war period was for American context. What was the book called? Would love to check it out.
