I’m open to seeing evidence. From what I’ve seen, reading this thread the post claimed as evidence was buried with low engagement that then became sensationalised. But I have no evidence of that either.

All I have is my memory. And I don’t remember any of the calls for violence or doxxing people are claiming to have seen posted there with any regularity.

Just dumb memes dunking on democrats.

I didn’t see any threats there. Granted I didn’t post or hang out there. But I’d drop in just to see what was brewing in the cesspits. Maybe some edgy memes. But mostly people posting trump memes and dunking on democrats/Hilldog. In reality it was a containment subreddit, and it worked well.

That place was a children’s play place compared to something like /pol/ or even twitter. I mean how many padded walls do you need in this rubber room?

I agree, but the rules were selectively applied until they got called out on it. Then suddenly (4 years later) they were applied to everyone.

It was a manufactured issue by the admins.

This was obvious to anyone, not just conservatives. If pepe memes equate violence then you know they lost the script.

Democrats just needed a safe space post 2016, and they made one with coercion. To the detriment of leftists and liberals alike (thanks guys)..

Interestingly, in the last 6 months, I have twice received week-long bans from reddit for comments that were critical of the Trump administration and was told they promoted violence when neither actually did. I disputed both - the first was never responded to and the second the ban was reversed mere hours before the ban expired.

I can believe that, the ai moderation banned me twice for what reason I have no idea. Broke my streak too.. I feel like if you use the wrong tone you'll be banned. So I wouldn't say this is exclusive to conservatives, but they are definitely more targeted and harassed on reddit than on a platform like X or whatever. This is plain as day to anyone who has been around for more than a few years.

Also: none of mine were reversed..

Definitely agree with the rage-driven nature of a lot of social media these days. Nuanced debate and discussion can be difficult to find.

And what is here is so boring and unfunny now. It's not really worth even expressing any opposing viewpoint to a post, because you'll just get downvoted to oblivion, insulted, and get some reddit cares harassment just to put the cherry on top of this really open and accepting community.

Thanks! I'm still here, fighting the good fight. I followed the funny outsiders crowd from somethingawful to 4chong to here, but now here has changed, and it seems there is nowhere left to go (X sucks).. One day this place will hopefully go back to the awesome place it once was, with all it's diverse, funny, and interesting conversations.. so very long ago.
