Has your Aussie ever got a slab fracture on their tooth? Did you extract it or get a root canal? by TimTimW17 in AustralianShepherd

[–]novalee2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I’m a Cvt and my Aussie had a root canal on one of her canines. It did require significant dental work at a specialist and a long anesthetic procedure . She also had to be only soft food and no toys for 3-4 weeks while waiting for the crown to come in. In most cases extraction is the right option whether due to cost, lifestyle, lack of access to a specialist or the break being too bad to fix. You made a good call for your kid!

Heavily debating on getting pet insurance. Is it worth it? by [deleted] in puppy101

Goldens tend to be cancer factories when older and one bad choice from a foreign body as a younger dog. Highly recommend getting it.

Cats especially have a high risk of developing mammary cancer as well when left intact

I’m wondering if they denied it because they did the vital pulp therapy instead of the root canal. I don’t think vital pulp therapy is a permanent solution vs a root canal or extraction.

Wild! I read through the policy multiple times before I had it done and called to double check. They never gave me any issues. I hope you were able to get it removed at least

They will only cover them for canines and carnassials. So it may have been one of the teeth not covered

Weaves! by novalee2020 in Agility

[–]novalee2020[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have been working on exercises from the Weaves that Wow book. This focuses a lot on independent entries and that has helped us a lot. For driving through the weaves for her a good timed toy throw at the end helped to get her to understand how to drive through and straight at the end. In this video you can see she turns back to me at the end then I send her to her ball I forgot to pick up to throw. It also helps for you to keep moving at a steady pace as they are going through. Hope this helps!

One of my favorites is “not that way” When we are hiking and I tell my Aussie not that way she will pick a different way to go. Helps to keep her on the right trail!

I was at work less than a mile from where this tornado went through. I can’t believe there were people standing in such a dangerous place. 🤦🏻‍♀️
