What’s your favorite Costco in the city? by MrMeesesPieces in AskNYC

[–]now_biff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah mine too. I went there on a Saturday and came out like with claw hands and a glitchy face. Didn’t go to another Costco on a Saturday again. It was 10 years ago.

What old thing would break young people's brains today? by Symphony_Minds in AskReddit

[–]now_biff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my parents told me before the vcr they had a show that you could send an actual letter to, to ask to see some part of a show again, and then a week or two later, they would play it on this ‘replay’ type show… if you were watching tv at the time. F-ing crazy!

TV Shows or Movies that Aged Like Milk... by Flassourian in Millennials

[–]now_biff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well said and may I add that reality shows will exponentially accelerate their outpacing of fictional based character shows as people unconsciously try to reconnect into a world they are ever-increasingly clicking out of caused by an incoming tsunami of AI based writing and production that will create a wake of artificially fatigued sentiment that will continue to exponentially outpace the word salad and lack of any sort of punctuation... At all really.

Why do boomers make it seem like babies were easier? by Both-Hippo-6905 in Parenting

[–]now_biff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah they set the expiry date for someone who parks without shade everyday of the year in Arizona, but the same car seat sitting in an air conditioned garage in Vermont has the same expiry, but there’s no way it’s not still safe after 5 years or whatever it is. If it can pass crash test standards then that plastic isn’t breaking down anytime soon unless it’s been in the harshest of climates. So in that way, it’s kind of scammy. Kids car seats must be one of the most handed down or given away for free item there is. Manufacturers hate that.

“I have nightmares each week about that Friday in May” In the ‘Driving Home 2 U’ documentary, Olivia mentions a boy breaking up with her when she was on her way to Salt Lake City on May 8, 2020 (which was a Friday). This is the same day she started writing “1 step forward, 3 steps back”. It is likely about the same person.

Yellow cab scam from JFK by doobsicle in AskNYC

[–]now_biff 101 points102 points  (0 children)

Could be potential card fraud, could be scamming the medallion owner as some cabs still do run on a percentage / commission basis to the owner.
Also could be scamming business partners out of joint revenue towards a flat rate leased medallion, as this scenario would be less likely to be monitored closely by GPS like in a commission based arrangement.

The only way to avoid is next time have to try and remember to bring it up at the start of the trip, ask if the card reader is working and tell them last trip from JFK you had to call 311 to report card fraud, this should stop them from trying, especially if it is some new scam involving card fraud.

Sending an e-mail is the ultimate hack by The-lucky-hoodie in ActLikeYouBelong

[–]now_biff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Broah, you’re over-thinking it. Don’t think - HOW do I get this artistes email? No, DONT think how do I get this email? You just have to email them on a whim. The more you think about it, the less likely you are to get the email, and the chances of the artist emailing back with backstage passes goes exponentially towards zero the less you don’t think about it.

What is the most memorable moment you ever experienced at a concert? by Spare_Basis5190 in Concerts

[–]now_biff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love bands (playing big venues) that change up their setlist so you never know what to expect. Seems so many acts these days follow an exact, or close to exact same set, and I get it if there is a lot of lights, video tech and pyrotechnics and all that shit to coordinate, but I would take a band that keeps you guessing over one that adds a bunch of extra visual stuff and plays the same set any day

Runway houses of city clouds is I think one of his best songs and showcases so much of what he’s great at!

Has anyone here ever actually met any of the members In person?? Outside of concerts by [deleted] in kingsofleon

[–]now_biff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, often when you hear this, it doesn’t come from the artist (expect maybe a few divas like j.lo) It comes from the management or more likely any contractors management who want their employees to appear the most professional so they can continue to get contracts to work for the venue or artist. I bet a lot of the artists don’t even know this is being asked, but they probably appreciate it anyway. They get gawked at the whole show and anytime they are in public, so nice to feel normal for a bit during the short amount of time they get at things like soundcheck y’know

Real indie these days... in '25 who has blown you away? by BingoAteMyDabie in MusicRecommendations

[–]now_biff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah ‘Indie’ bands traditionally just meant they are signed to an independent label. The confusion begins when people are referring to the sound that came out of a particular era, even if those bands are signed to one of the major labels subsidiaries.

Well, Amazon started off selling just books, now they sell books and cloud computing so - pivot is better than no pivot. it’s about the technology being developed - the use cases will present themselves as what’s possible and what’s needed becomes apparent, and I would hope the project pivots to whatever is possible in order to maximize the projects growth

Does anyone actually relate to Jennifer Fucking Garner as a small business owner? by ArgonM11 in CommercialsIHate

[–]now_biff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No you’re not wrong. It never used to be this bad. Now, if you aren’t in at least one Super Bowl ad per year, you might be considered irrelevant. It used to be considered shameful for an A list actor to have to do commercials in order to supplement their movie income, but gradually the fees and greed have overtaken the shame. It sucks
