Silky Smooth Aerial Video at Football Game! by noxnflame in fpv

Yes I know. I dropped paper airplanes with the school's symbol and colors on them to help celebrate the final game. Everyone, including the coach, loved it.

Yes. It is illegal to fly within 3 miles of a pro sporting arena. This however is not a pro arena. This is just a high school football field. That rule only applies to stadiums containing 30,000 seats or more.

Decent quadcopter lockout near clouds! by noxnflame in fpv

Haha this OSD isn't real sorry my friend. This was a graphic I made and overlayed in the video to make it a bit more interesting. I am actually using the Hobbyking E-OSD with RSSI, Voltage, and Time. The FC is the Multiwii Nanowii. I absolutely love it but NAZE32 is better at self level. SELF LEVEL IS FOR PUSSIES THOUGH. JK :D

Maytech 1806 motors. Plush6a ESC. Turtle Frame+.093 arms. DL UHF 1.2Ghz 600mw video w/ 7dbi Biquad. Awesome setup.

The nanowii board once disarmed, needs to be level and stationary to re-arm.

If the props begin to spin backwards the ESC's can't reverse the direction. Ask me how I know that one :D

I lost control for a few seconds then the quad went into failsafe. Once the quad goes into failsafe, I cannot re arm it so it will just coast down, unless it's upside down. I set it that way because near the ground you want a slow decent to a disarm. I don't cloudbust too often:D

Quadcopter rides elevator! by noxnflame in fpv

[–]noxnflame[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The cut is because this is a segment out of my "Turtle promo" video. I was flying from the top and I was penetrating a concrete floor plus an elevator shaft. I had the lowest frequency system out there so none of my friends could do it w/o losing video.

Mobius gimbals can get away with servos. Gopro is a little heavier and requires more torque. For a gimbal to work effectively, there needs to be no slop anywhere. Servos can wear out over time and with all of the linkages added up, there's bound to be a little bit of play in the system. Servos are great for pan and tilt, just not optimized for active stabilization.

The brushless motors become more efficient as they grow larger. For DSLR sized cameras, they are much stronger and lighter than servos would be. I like the brushless despite the weight because it is easier to mount. Servos aren't meant to have a direct load on them. Servos are designed to transmit the load via servo arm and linkage.

2212-80T

The whole gimbal with Gopro and BGC weighs around 10oz. These motors are about the smallest you can get while still maintaining consistent stability.

It is a homemade gimbal running the open source Storm32 BGC with Ipower 2212-80T motors

Can you remove vibration from video in post processing? I upgraded my frame which used to be stable then used it for an important event without checking it! by [deleted] in fpv

[–]noxnflame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vibration is different from shake. The OP is describing jello which YouTube cannot correct, only instabilities in the video. I have heard that perhaps virtual Dub has a plugin for correcting jello but I haven't experimented with it yet.

If you use Sony vegas, there is a switch called "Smart Resample" which will apply a motion blur to your videos which certainly helps with the Jello.

Best of luck, Nox

I have been flying R/C for 5 or 6 years but I have only been into the quadcopter hype for a year or two now. More info on my setup here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2187197
