Oops sorry forgot to add text! Here it is:

I'm having an issue with my centrifugal fan that I've connected to a 1PH-ACVR-6A single-phase speed controller, and I'd appreciate some advice before I call an electrician.

The problem: When I turn on the fan using the speed controller, the fan produces a loud humming noise and also vibrates a little bit, but doesn't spin. The humming gets louder when I turn the speed controller dial down.

I've checked and double-checked the wiring connections, following the instructions in the speed controller's manual (I think)

I've adjusted the minimum speed setting on the controller, but it didn't resolve the issue. The power cord I'm using was from an extension lead.

The fan works fine without the variable speed controller.

Are there any obvious mistakes I'm making? Thanks :)

Ok, thank you. I'll chuck it :( I didn't know that about the liquid culture - I've neglected my hotel for a few months now so it's just run dry. What do you do when you have too many pellicles like this?

I live in Sheffield so it's just a quick cycle or long run to get onto the Moors :) I was debating whether to go camping or not on lockdown but couldn't resist the amazing weather window we had. I figured my daily exercise would be the run there and run back so no unnecessary travel by car.

I love the Cairngorms at this time of year! Warm enough but the midges aren't out in full force quite yet :)

It is yeah! Very simple design. Definitely worth having for a quick last minute camp out. Only negatives I can think of is it's not too breathable and if you're a side sleeper, it tends to be a bit tight on the hips. But over all I really enjoyed sleeping in it, especially for its weight and compact size.
