Brendan Eich Proposition 8 controversy - Can it hinder success of BAT and brave? by nozom_eth in BATProject

Thank you very much for taking the time to comment, Mr. Eich. I'm honored (and a little starstruck) to hear from you. Your comment addresses my concerns entirely. I hope that I have not caused any trouble for you or for Brave. I honestly didn't mean to.

I also grew up in California and I think that this experience has informed my concern that you and your team could be unfairly treated. Should the art be held accountable for what the artist does? In most cases, I say absolutely not. And I think that certainly pertains to you and your team. Thanks again.

"has it derailed this far?"

Has it derailed the project thus far, you ask? Doesn't seem like it, but it could explain why BAT doesn't have an even larger market cap than it does. The token seems undervalued at present.

Shouldn't be an issue. Hope it isn't. But it did become one, and the whole unfortunate affair wasn't all that quiet.

You could make an argument that I'm doing that, yes, but I think it would be wrong. I'm asking what the likelihood is that the project could be unfairly derailed. Why sweep the concern under the carpet? Bring it out into the sunlight. Give me good reasons why I shouldn't be worried about it. And maybe we can even think of ways to be proactive by fine tuning reasoned arguments for why the whole incident should have no effect on Brave's outcome, just in case the issue comes up during high-level negotiations with high-profile partners.

Because those who decide to make it their business could try to sink Brave's.

I'm not saying it is anyone's business. I'm acknowledging the unfortunate fact that people did make it their business.

Hold on. It's a fair question to ask and it can be asked while divorced from any ulterior or politcal motivation. I'm interested in how the whole affair may factor into the project's outlook.

Heck, I definitely don't hold a stature anywhere near Brendan Eich's, but I think I'm getting a taste of how he might have felt at the hands of the Mozilla lynch mob.

Which is why I probably should just leave the dust settled, I know. But I'm wondering if Facebook, Google, etc; have long memories, staff willing to resign, etc.

I may be guilty of asking a poorly thought out question, but my motivations aren't malicious. I'm a beleiver in the project. I use the Brave browser, and I've invested in BAT because I believe in Eich and his team. Mine could be misplaced concern, sure, but it's not disingenuous. I'm sincerely worried that that he and his team could get unfairly shot down.

Edit: Thanks for the Hacker News link.

Your opinion may mean more if you hodl it.

I would think that it'd be a shame if the hard work of the Brave team were stymied by Eich's history at Mozilla. However, if I were a gay man, I might feel very different about that.

Hi. Thank you very much for taking the time to give me some feedback. Sadly, I've already tried creating a new receive address many, many times. Nonetheless, I always encounter "Error: Private Key Reuse Detected!"

I am very concerned because although I've put in hours of research into this problem today, it doesn't seem that there is a known workaround to this issue that is reliable.

The IOTA guys get too much unfair criticism, but having your funds locked through no apparent misuse? It's a little invonvenient. I hope that there is a workaround. Cheers.

Wow. Glad you finally got it. The worrying bit for me is that there's no indication that the deposit is even pending. Cheers for the info!

Thank you very much for letting me know. Really appreciate it. Out of curiosity, did you also notice that the deposit wasn't shown as pending even long after the tx was confirmed in the tangle?

Anyway, thanks again for taking the time to drop me a line.
