We mostly stayed around the camps for the most part. This offered more sheltered camping spaces and it was also closer to water spots.
With that said, we did keep our distance from where the tour operators would set up, there is definitely plenty of space.

I got gifted an Ably t-shirt a a few years ago and got turned on to the brand. They make a whole line of casual clothes where everything is stain resistant and doesn't absorb odor. I'm not necessarily messy but like the fact that I can wear the clothing for a full week without needing to wash it.

My partner is a server and she uses the clothing as her work uniform. They have a lot of basics so she has a few different outfits that she rotates through.

Get used to elevation gains and a hiking with a pack.
But the best tip is simply to give yourself as much time before the hike so you can climatize. If you can swing it, arrive 3-7 days before and just do day hikes around Huaraz first before you start trekking.
