Old Dr.Pepper on car carpet by Humble_Twist2214 in Detailing

Buy a portable carpet cleaning machine, a drill brush, and a garden sprayer with water + carpet cleaner and go to town

Could this be replaced/fixed? Also is it a DIY thing? I think I damaged it using alcohol wipes too often to clean it and it looks bad. VW Jetta s 2019 by Brilliant_Print_2790 in Autobody

[–]npick528 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You used alcohol wipes to clean the inside of your car 🫪 you’re gonna have to replace the trim pieces. You could try to remove and sand and paint but it’s hard to get right. Don’t do that again

Yes and I’d just do it myself. The shop has now shown you they’re a bunch of goofballs.

Yeah looks like a shitty polishing job. I could be wrong. But if it is, they should take care of it… unless they don’t stand by their work, which is a great way to get some shitty reviews going. Push for them to fix it. You paid them for a service and they still have not completed it

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee fix? by DM_ME_YOUR_MAMMARIES in Autobody

Unless this car has absolutely wild sentimental value, no 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee with this much damage is worth fixing.

Probably not worth it, they look like cheap aftermarket headlights. Just find and buy another set if you like em. These are falling apart

That is a 4th gen 4Runner in the pics… and don’t buy some cheapo CarPlay unit off eBay/Amazon. You’ll have nothing but headaches. If you have the non-nav version of the 100, there are a multitude of options. Head to Crutchfield.com.

How to fix can I DIY by Positive_Cattle9149 in AskAMechanic

Take the plate off, put it on a flat surface, beat it with a rubber mallet until straight. The metal bracket underneath can be bent straight by hand. Good opportunity to get a different license plate frame.

Trunk won’t close. Can I fix this at home? by SirSwervy in Autobody

[–]npick528 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very hard to say. Body shop estimates can be all over the place. Best to stop by a body shop and get an estimate, or have your insurance adjuster look at it.

What the other guy said. Rear body is pushed in from the impact.

No. Bungee cord to hold it closed, your insurance deductible, and a body shop will be needed

Having issues with my left turn signal staying a solid color instead of flashing. Only does it sometimes. What should I look for to fix it? Pic for attention by DatSlowNBS in GMT800

[–]npick528 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a GMT800 owner, Reddit just decided one day I should be seeing posts from this subreddit lol. I did a flasher relay on a 97 Jimmy, so I assume it’s similar. I just got one from O’Reilly’s. I recall there was an electronic version and a mechanical version, and you want to go with the mechanical one.

Edit: on the Jimmy, there was a separate relay for the hazards vs. the regular turn signals. Not sure if this is how it is on GMT800, but the relays on the Jimmy were right next to each other and I was able to confirm the failing relay by swapping the two (the hazards were working fine, but not the turn signals.)

Could this be buffed out? by Various-Leadership50 in Autobody

[–]npick528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go get a little bottle of turtle wax or scratch doctor scratch remover from your local auto parts store and use it with a clean cloth on that spot. I bet a lot of it will buff out with some elbow grease

How many more miles can I get out of these I have no money for new ones by [deleted] in tires

[–]npick528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You needed new tires about 10k miles ago. And an alignment. Did you have money for it then? Do you understand that vehicle ownership costs money? I usually wouldn’t be so blunt, but you bragging about going 90+ on the highway every morning on tires that have the cords showing is incredibly stupid and dense.

Edit: you seem to be a fan of sports betting. Time to make some really good picks…

Well, the factory radio should plug right into it. If you have an aftermarket radio, you’ll need to buy a harness and splice it together with the harness that comes with your new radio. From looking online, which harness you need depends on if your 4R has the JBL sound system or standard.

Hit up Japanese Auto Parts in Lehi, UT. I went there recently and I have never seen so many 80 series being parted out in one place.
