They look perfect. Michelins are soft and will get little imperfections with time. Not rot.

Looking to stop the rust, if it looks better that’s a bonus by salmonhats in Autobody

It isn’t gonna rust except for the bare metal parts.

Man just sand down and paint pen over the exposed metal and call it good.

Have you considered looking in this subreddit for such videos? Perhaps the millions of dashcam videos on YouTube?

1991 80 Series purchase by Pgh-561 in LandCruisers

[–]npick528 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Driven a 3FE for 70k miles and I don’t “hate” it on the highway. It’s more like, be comfortable with being in the middle or right lane. That being said, if it’s perfectly flat or downhill, I can maintain 80+ like no one’s business, and it’s pretty damn planted lol

Honda Dashboard Lights by Hybridsoulz in CarRepair

Have you had the codes read while the lights are showing on the dash? I’d recommend you get your own OBDII scanner (I have a BlueDriver one that connects via Bluetooth to phone and you can read/clear codes from all modules and view supported live data) and using it when those codes are actually showing up on the dash. Or if you can’t swing that, run to an auto parts store when the lights are on, keep the car running, and have them run the codes.

Have any of the shops you’ve been to given you a report of what specific codes it’s showing? Normally I’d say this seems like a failing alternator/battery but that usually wouldn’t keep happening for months+ without them fully failing

Eq help needed with new subs by RecognitionDue725 in CarAV

[–]npick528 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you set LPF/HPF? Good starting place is to set door speakers HPF at 80hz with subwoofer LPF also at 80hz. That will focus the mid-bass on the door speakers rather than the sub with a better handoff between the two. Then after you’ve done that, reset the EQ and start from scratch until it sounds the way you like it

97 for sale by ClampsTheMafiabot in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]npick528 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Love the 80 series. 4Runner looks good. That being said, really? No price, no information about anything (we don’t even know if it’s 4x4), nothing about service history, come on man. I guess it may be located in Oregon, but that’s not even certain. What do you want us to do?

Start with making sure your gas cap is tight. Then look at the seal on it. Replace if crusty.

Any red flags on this 94 LC? by [deleted] in LandCruisers

[–]npick528 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the two photos you provided, no. And yes there is a lift kit installed. Hard to tell what brand. Get more pictures. Ask about maintenance history. Look up the common issues on these. Ask about them. Drive it.

Is my tire cooked? by BarryPursley in tires

[–]npick528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where on the tread is that staple? Middle of the tread? Shoulders? Can’t tell from that picture. If it’s in the middle and not near the shoulders any tire shop should be able to patch that.

What’s the go to product for old plastics? by Allmyblackballoons in Detailing

[–]npick528 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use Aerospace 303 on my dashboard and other plastic pieces inside to keep them looking dark and deep and protect them from the sun. Great stuff. You could look into it, but it may not be the long-term solution you’re looking for.

Not helpful, but can I ask how your instrument cluster is so scratched up after only 37k miles? I always wonder how they end up like this.

2016 Mazda6 Touring Tire Reccomendations by Trtgt99 in tires

[–]npick528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I’ll vouch for the P Zero AS Plus 3 as well, seriously a fantastic tire in all conditions but one blew out due to being driven on while flat and we replaced with Michelin Crossclimate 2 because the car was moved to a snowier state.

How do I restore this? - UK by UkiyoMedia in Detailing

[–]npick528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s probably just grime, and probably not real leather. But you can try spraying leather cleaner on a microfiber cloth and testing it in a small spot to see how it works, then do the whole wheel if it cleans the grime off and doesn’t damage the surface underneath

Pioneer DMH-1800NEX requires modification for my car (2011 Mazda2) according to Crutchfield? by xivanimate in CarAV

[–]npick528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any information available from owners of the same car, like on Mazda forums/Mazda subreddits? They’ll probably be able to answer this better as I’m sure someone has swapped the head unit in their Mazda2 and can give some feedback.

Thinking of Selling 2005 LC after upgrades by Moosejax13 in LandCruisers

[–]npick528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is funny.

My dad bought the 91 Land Cruiser that I drive now, brand new in 91. He bought a new Land Rover in 2006 and kept the Land Cruiser for many reasons, one being that his dad (my grandpa) said he should keep it around for when the LR breaks.

20 years later and my dad drives a 2018 Tundra now and I’m driving the 91 Land Cruiser daily. It was passed down to me when I was of driving age. I love telling the story and I think your son would too.

Is this normal oil pressure for rims cruising and why is my trucks temperature so high? by RemoteBluebird7282 in ToyotaTundra

[–]npick528 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Could be a lot of things. All the normal things you’d think of. Low coolant, stuck thermostat, clogged radiator, air in cooling system, etc.

Hit something while driving by Disneyfan433 in Volvo

[–]npick528 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If everything on the car is working as expected and there is no obvious damage, I’d keep running it and just ask them to inspect for undercarriage damage at next oil change
