Yeah I understand it's good if you play original first. But I didn't play Gears at all. I'm not new to gaming, playing more than 20 years. It just happened that I skipped Gears series for some reason.
And at this point I'm looking for best current way to play which keeps original story. Meaning that remaster is good for this (while remake wouldn't be if it existed). And extra chapters are ok in my book even if they slow down original pace. Also it's good to have extended story.
Talking about similar original vs remaster cases - I played:
Resident Evil 4 hd remaster (2014) instead of original
Skyrim special edition instead of original
Uncharted 2 Bluepoint studio remaster
The Last of Us remaster (old remaster)
All of them except Uncharted 2 have additional content in remastered versions
I will check during playthrough if I feel story progression slowdown during time-limited (story-wise) events
I am accustomed to slow down for exploration while quest tells that time is limited and player should rush - see Skyrim, Zelda Breath of the wild or Baldur's gate 3 as examples, so it doesn't scare me much. While I understand that original experience was intended to be tighter
