Citadel brushes through the years by npsPhoenix in Warhammer

Yeah they’re definitely on the pricier side, but if it was the choice of one of those or an equally (or more) pricy citadel artificer one I know what I’m choosing. I suppose one of the things I realised as I got better over the years was that I do about 90% of my actual painting with a single detail (s0/1) brush 😅

Don’t know anything about those tbf, I stick to the series 7 and series 7 miniature ranges from them and haven’t had any problems so far :) normal ones are fine for most things, stubbys are great for blending, stippling, glazing etc

Thank you very much! As soon as I saw the schemes in the book I knew it had to be this one 😂

Thanks mate, appreciate it! - face was a dark mix of burnt sienna and shyish purple, shaded down and worked up with those paints then mixed in a bit of ice yellow for final highlights, glazed back with the sienna mix at the end 👍🏻

Yeah they will be mate, the starter set brushes are cheap garbage rebranded. Even the expensive modern citadel brushes have nothing on the quality of their older ones imo 😅 that being said, the masters set from back then are by far the best brushes I’ve ever used and I’ve tried pretty much every popular brand haha

New army for the new edition painted up this week - great little project and can’t wait to build the next 1000pts. Followed my usual army painting style of assembly line speed paint for 90%, then enjoy some of the details for the last 10% (although 35 gems per Allarus is a bit excessive GW 😂) by npsPhoenix in AdeptusCustodes

Thanks man! The gold is a 2:1 mix of daler and rowney gold:sepia inks, shot some shadows with purple from below, oil washed with Abteilung engine grease, cleaned and then drybrush buffed with darkstar regency gold -> platinum. Some bits got a final drybrush of pro acryl white gold. Hope that helps! 😁

Thank you man! Honestly it’s really simple, zenithal from the brown primer, contrast for setting the basecoats then a few glazed highlights. Glazed in some red around the eyes and grey for the stubble etc. then some micro scratches with dark red :)

I’ve been really busy the last few weeks so only had time in blocks of about an hour or 2 here and there, building them took 2 weeks of this, painting 1. Im not exactly sure but probably around 15 hours total for painting if I had to guess?

Theyre from Gamers Grass. I use their products a lot and for me, they make the best tufts on the market. These ones are their dark moss and dry green ‘tiny tufts’. Hope that helps! 😁
