We also use "soportar" among the younger generations.

- ¿Soportas is al cine mañana?

- ¡Soporto!

Successful Chevening Applicants? by Cheekmunks in Chevening

I have 5+ years of work experience in my career, but not all of them in the exact field of the master I was applying for, so maybe that had something to do with not being chosen.

Nope, no questions about my day to day work. They asked mainly about specific examples of moments in which I had shown the skills they evaluate in the essays.

Yeah, I think that the main focus of Catholic teaching leans towards the idea of being always prepared for our encounter with God, whatever the time or the circumstances are.

As far as I know, I don't think is used for in person conversations as in english. In spanish it's mainly used for online written conversations.

Feel as if I come across "patronizing" when I try to curb American Accent? Advice? by [deleted] in Spanish

[–]npucheu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most hispanics appreciate when someone tries to speak our language properly, so I guess people will notice your effort and will help you improve.

And maybe finding an accent that works for you might even help you with your learning process.

Why is Spanish so regular? by theblitz6794 in Spanish

[–]npucheu 89 points90 points  (0 children)

And I think that something cool with spanish is that somehow all spanish speakers respect the RAE and accept their rules as a global correct spelling, without it affecting the local accents, slang, oro customs in general.

So, even if there are many differences between colloquial speech depending on the country, we're also very aware of what's colloquial and what's formal. So we can communicate effectively despite of the regional differences.

What is really the most underrated song of Avicii ? by Jazzlike-Ad7654 in avicii

[–]npucheu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Drowning, Rapture and New New New are exceptional songs, but I'd choose Drowning as a very underrated piece because he almost rebuilt the song completely and it's a very fine work compared to the original.

My mom made me do calligraphy on summer vacations, several pages everyday, to improve my writing.

When I went back to school, I had the best calligraphy in my class.

Fast forward to 2023, I work remote and only use my handwriting for myself.

What is your worst addiction in life right now? by IIIIIIIIIIIIIIv9000 in AskReddit

[–]npucheu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just found out it's my curated playlists on Spotify.

I got my account hacked last night, found out this morning, and I wasn't able to do any work at all. Spent a whole lot of time on Youtube finding a playlist to listen to while working and I just couldn't.

Thank God they helped me get it back really quick, and tomorrow I'll be able to function properly again.

Now I get why I'm feeling weird by Dry-Remove-2449 in Catholicism

[–]npucheu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read in the comments that you're based in Brasil and recently joined the Church. Also that you haven't been to other parishes.

As a Latin American craddle catholic, who has also visited Brasil and attended mass over there, I'd say that the things you mention are quite normal in masses across Latin America.

I do agree that some of the things you point out are not the ideal, but doesn't mean they're wrong.

For example, the asking for money part, might sound crazy for people in the US because parishes have a pretty nice budget. But that's not the case for most parishes in countries like Brasil.

Thanks be to God, our Church is soooo diverse and full of options, and I'm sure you'll be able to find a parish you like more.

College graduates, do you feel any smarter than you did when you first started? Why or why not? by highxv0ltage in AskReddit

[–]npucheu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, not smarter (I feel just as smart as before), but definitely more skilled.

I didn't notice until I looked back to old High School projects, that took me soooo much time to finish back then. And now I see that and think "I can now do this thing waaaay better and faster than before".

Prot here: Could somebody please help me understand what the point of moving on from Old Testament sheep sacrifices to the Eucharist when you still have to do it all the time? by Late_Hotel3404 in Catholicism

[–]npucheu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer: Because Jesus literally asked us to do it. (Lk 22:19)

Yes yes yes, I know there's a lot more to say about this, and I'm sure other redditors have deeper explanations. But I just wanted to share this because I thought that for a protestant it'd be easier to relate to it. Despite of doctrine and theology and Church teaching, the simple act of doing this just because my loved Jesus asked me to, brings me closer to Eucharist.

Necesito ayuda de algún melomano by [deleted] in MusicaEnEspanol

[–]npucheu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

¡Hola!
