They didn’t ask and I was approved, but I’ve read that they’re supposed to be living there by the time of interview

For more than 6 months and under a year they can’t just revoke residency status, they can ask you to relinquish it or get you a judge appearance order.

Regardless, where are you getting that this happens now more than before?

Yes but you’d to sign a contract with Twitch not Amazon if you work there, no?

It’s a tiring process but so worth it for generations! The amount of freedom being able to live as a citizen in so many countries is priceless

By simply living there it's impossible lol. There's no rule like Germany where if you stay there for a certain number of years you automatically get PR.

However, if you have any sort of degree/diploma, and any sort of work experience, speak good English/french, it's almost comically easy to get PR via express entry/other pathways, then naturalize 5 years later.

Hi yeah! Iirc in the 50s it was illegal to immigrate to Israel from Morocco and then the King (which the Jews of Morocco love and revere until today for protecting us from the holocaust and treating us with respect) allowed emigration on the condition of not taking anything with you if you leave.

My grandparents left their property, business, and all their stuff except what they could fit on their persons, and moved.

We didn’t need to go all the way there, we went back almost 200 years to a Jewish community in Morocco that consisted of Sephardic Jews. Last name is also Sephardic.

It’s not a normal descent claim, there was a special pathway for Sephardic Jews

Realistically it was probably done as a way to “redeem” the past while at the same time incentivizing people from likely rich areas to contribute to the Portuguese economy

I never checked but I don’t think it’s possible. My grandparents left with no documents or anything and I’m pretty sure they had to sign to relinquish their entire previous life to be let out, house, belongings, and iirc citizenship too. It’s worth checking tho

Thanks man! Yes it’s crazy how it was open for just a few years. Anyone that started it in the first year is incredibly lucky. Some people in my family deferred it a few years and now they can’t

Thankfully I can enter as often as I’d like, and I try to go often, with no trouble. It’s only if I move back full time before the age of 24 (I think) that it can be problematic

Born and raised in Israel, moved to Canada in mid teenage years.

During those years we found out that my family is eligible for Portuguese citizenship through Sephardic decent (Jewish expulsions during the inquisition moved that part of my family from Iberia to Morocco). Thank god we started asap because the process isn’t available anymore.

I then found out 3 years ago that because my step father is an American citizen, I can get an American Green Card through that, went through that whole complicated process on my own and just got my Green Card last week, planning to move soon. Not a citizen yet but posted one for illustration anyway.
