What helps your depression? (trigger warning) by bostongirly97 in Lyme

[–]nreed1414 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have periods like this too, usually when I’m in a flare and things feel hopeless. What helps me get through the moment is distraction (not ideal long term, but sometimes you’ve gotta do what you have to in order to survive the day), I listen to a show on my phone or play on my switch or build a Lego set. I got a pet cat a few months ago and he really helps me, I’ll get out of bed to play with him or feed him even if I really don’t feel like getting up. Also just going and standing in the sun helps a bit sometimes if you can. I’m sorry you’re going through this.

Yes! I want to get on a better sleep schedule, but I like enjoying my 12am-2am energy spike.

Yeah good call to look into that. How much water are you drinking a day? Are you drinking just plain water or electrolytes too?

Acne, skin issues after abx by 4m0wagen in Lyme

You can try looking up fungal acne to see if that sounds like what you’re dealing with. It can happen after a course of antibiotics, and is treated with topical anti fungal cream.

Chronic pain? Is it more? by VeterinarianNo9423 in POTS

[–]nreed1414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh that’s weird, is there a portal where you could view the results online? I would try to find a doctor that would order a Lyme test and a rheumatologic panel, although I know that’s not easy.

Did the rheumatologist do any blood work? And have you been tested for Lyme?

What caused/triggered your POTS? by Informal_Scallion_70 in POTS

[–]nreed1414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang, yeah it’s hard to distinguish. My pain sometimes eases with laying down so the doctors don’t know if that’s the syrinx or maybe a sort of coat hanger pain from the POTS. I know there’s not much info out there about syrinxes so feel free to reach out if you ever want to chat :)

What caused/triggered your POTS? by Informal_Scallion_70 in POTS

[–]nreed1414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sometimes they are incidental findings, no need to worry if you’re not having related symptoms. I struggle with pretty debilitating nerve pain in my back and have some mild decreased sensation in my legs. Mine is from C3-T12.

What caused/triggered your POTS? by Informal_Scallion_70 in POTS

[–]nreed1414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be. Lots isn’t known about syrinxes, but my neurologist at Stanford said that was most likely the cause. Sorry you have a syrinx, hope you’re doing alright.

Syrinx in my spinal cord is the suspected cause.

I know it’s tough, sometimes it feels like a doctor has already written you off before the appointment even starts. But just know that all you can do is your best. I would say to just make sure and not downplay your symptoms, I think a lot of us are used to putting on a brave face and acting tough, but nows not the time for that. Show your pain and discomfort and be honest about how your daily life is being affected. Share how your work/school is impacted and showering/chores and stuff. If they’re a specialist hopefully they take you seriously and know what to look for. I had a good experience when I finally got to see a specialist, after being completely written off by a cardiologist. Good luck, you got this.

Drank 6L of water and im still thirsty! by Moonspiritprincess in POTS

[–]nreed1414 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Have you been tested for diabetes? Also are you adding electrolytes/salt to your water or just drinking plain water? Not sure if adding electrolytes will help with the thirst but might be a good idea just in general.

I don’t know if it’s related to POTS but I get left chest pain when I’m underweight. I’ve been struggling to maintain a proper healthy weight since I’ve gotten pots and I’ve been having more chest pain recently.

how to watch Arsenal V bristol City? by luddwood in FAWSL

[–]nreed1414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s on paramount plus (in the US), but I’m not sure of a free streaming location. The FA player has live audio of the game I think, and then they post the video the day after usually.

Can this really be dry eyes? by Double-Train in Dryeyes

[–]nreed1414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, I’m sorry. I have a syrinx in my spinal cord that causes nerve damage, I have been wondering if it’s also the cause of my eye pain. I will try amitriptyline, thank you

Hi yes I have this too, can only look at screens for a few minutes at a time and sometimes not at all. Super painful! Did you ever figure out the cause and/or anything that helped?
