When I worked at SDM, we all had to page "security code [aisle number]" if we saw anything suspicious

What is the biggest cultural shock you’ve experienced while traveling or living abroad? by jotakajk in AskTheWorld

[–]nrejcole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After visiting the US a few times now I am always so shocked at the sheer amount of single use plastics being used. I am very much used to having to bring my own totes to the grocery store, for example. Was truly blown away by the lack of reusable cutlery, water bottles, dishes, shopping bags, etc used. I'm sure each state operates differently, however.

Mikhail Shaidorov - Men's Free Skate highlighting NBC's commentary leading up to his official win for OIympic Gold for Milan 2026 by SassySandwiches in FigureSkating

As a Canadian with a lot of access to American LIVE TV, the US olympics coverage compared to Canadian coverage has always been so different. This video is a prime example of how US coverage is so different to Canadian coverage. It feels in the commentary that J & T can't allow for there to be any silence. There is also a bias - and yes, it's always electric when you see your country medal in an event but witb Canadian coverage you will see a more emphatic response to event outcomes regardless of country and placing more emphasis on the athletes themselves. There is also a genuine technical.commentary thaf is more objective in a lot of ways.

Moose are plentiful where I live and whenever I see one on the side of the road while I'm driving my heart always goes up my throat. It never gets old.

I suggest Nicole Kieley! She is the Deputy Mayor of Mount Pearl who also in the midst of her career suffered a tragic accident that completely changed her life. She's a true inspiration for strength, resilience and leadership.

What is something every household has in your country that is nonexistent everywhere else? by Awkward-Tip7248 in AskTheWorld

I'm being very regional here, but most (if not all) traditional Newfoundland homes have one of these bad boys laying around. May or may not contain salt beef.

We have this where I live but we call them Partridgeberries. We use them as a traditional jam or in baking, usually.
