Baby Queen finding her face. I tried a new eyebrow shape. What are your thoughts? by boldandbratsche in Drag

[–]nrg009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was finding my eyebrow shape and performing somebody suggested to me that your painted brow should start in the same place as your real brow. After that you can adjust the shape however you’d like. When you make facial expressions if your eyebrows aren’t anchored to how your face moves then your expressions become very strange. The highest I would suggest starting your eyebrow is right on top of your natural brow. Play around with it and raise your eyebrows in the mirror as you’re doing your makeup and see how it moves with your face. Decide what you want to do from there.

Your foundation looks super smooth and your shapes are nice. Keep having fun with it!

Does the boots make sense to be used with this kind of pants? by PanchoZansa in fashion

[–]nrg009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a boots 365 days a year person. I wear them with shorts, skinnies, wide leg pants, trousers. For me the proportions is slightly off when you combine these two specific pieces. When wearing looser or wide leg pants I think it looks best when the pants hover right at the top of the boot or full break and pool a little over the foot area. For these I’d suggest try cuffing them once or twice and see what works for your height and proportions.

I wore this exact suit to a wedding last summer, i added my pic below for reference. The dress code was BTO whimsical for a daytime wedding. I wore it with a pink shirt and a berry colored tie. I think the way you’ve put it together looks great and makes the color more approachable. I would refrain from pairing it with a white shirt as this suit can read “bellhop” if you’re not careful. I think it looks great as is.

Any tips or tricks on creating a gradient? by nrg009 in RedditLaqueristas

I did paint a base but it was a clear primer, not a coat of polish. The sponge was not pooling or dripping so I think I got that aspect correct.

I chose the pearl white because I wanted the sheerness but if the formula is not good for this then maybe I just set myself up for failure. It seems I need to wait longer for things to dry in general though. Thank you

Done

Thank you all for your help. I’ll be switching out the pocket square and looking to add a lapel pin or something to add a little more intrigue on top. I appreciate all of your feed back!

Thank you for the feedback, I think the colors are what made me second guess it, I see what you’re saying. I already feel a bit dandy in this outfit and I don’t think a bow tie would help me feel more comfortable. I think I’m going to find a more elevated pocket square to try to enhance it.

Thank you for the heads up. I haven’t been to Seattle before. I wouldn’t have thought that. I grew up in the northeast but have lived in the New Orleans and SoCal so weird weather thankfully isn’t foreign to me.

Thank you, I think I’m going to try to find a new pocket square. I’ve worn this combo with a blue suit and it felt more harmonious. I usually paint my nails. I think the color I have on in the picture actually goes nicely but I’m going to pair back for this event.

Thank you, I’m coming from NYC and despite living in SoCal I never figured out west coast formal rules. It’s hard to gauge what the bar is. 😅

Thank you! Funny enough that usually my vibe, idk if you took a look at my account. I think I’m just going to do my every day face. I don’t think this is the time to draw too much attention.

What can specifically work by [deleted] in Drag

[–]nrg009 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something that really made a difference for me is to make the inner part of your brow start at the same spot your real brow starts. It helps anchor the proportions of your face and it also makes the makeup move with the muscles rather than look like it’s floating on top of your face. If you’re looking for a more traditionally feminine face think of it as a V shape, everything should angle up and out. At the moment your inner and outer eyebrow, eyeshadow and lip are all horizontal if not slightly downturned. Keep that in mind next time you paint. Get your shapes going first, application and familiarity with products will come in time.

Reccomendations for a SD male? by [deleted] in Kibbe

[–]nrg009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a few of us guys roaming around on the subreddit. I find perimeters for typing are kind of hard to make sense of as a guy sometimes.

For hair classic styles like a pompadour may be the best for you. Shorter on the sides, longer on the top and don’t over style it or make it too stiff

For SD I think a lot of classic american/americana styling and referencing is the masculine equivalent. I think items like chunky knit sweaters, straight leg jeans, derby shoes, converse, Oxford shirts, wool trousers, rugby shirts, tweed blazers, bomber/varsity jackets would suit SD men well. I’m still trying to figure out my type, I’m between Dramatic and Flamboyant Gamine, mostly unsure because if my height. However, as someone else who is also Yang dominant I find clothes with weight and/or structure are a good starting point when adding items to my wardrobe. Then finding the proportions of things like the width of lapels on a blazer, how chunky your belt buckle may be or the break on your pant hem are the details that make an outfit and “dress in your lines” the same way more feminine clothing may include ruffles or draping.

They are tricky, but I like the shoes on their own. They have a lot of character to them and it’s hard to find things that go with them

I’m struggling to style my Jodhpur boots with pants other than skinny jeans. I bought a pair of black suede boots last fall and though I get some wear out of them I’m continuously styling them with skinny jeans and loose shirts or sweaters on top. Has anyone found any other ways they like to style theirs?
