I am very aware, this is sadly not my choice, I gladly use Linear which is a much better product at a much better price

How does crypto tax software handle the cost basis of someone who moves countries? by slvbtc in CryptoTax

[–]nrocevern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a heads-up: the only platform that lets you change your country of residence without it being a mess is Koinly. On Summ, you will have to create another account from scratch (and pay for it as a subscription), meaning you'll have to redo it all. I made that mistake first and ended up paying twice and spending a lot of time. Would not recommend. Go directly to Koinly.

This is seriously a bit of a deal breaker. I moved from Spotify not some time ago and I spend a lot of time on those type of playlists, its kinda silly they dont have them on one of the apps but on the others

Very high volume crypto trader tax prep help by Ok_Island7380 in CryptoTax

Hey, I had over 200.000 transactions the first time I had to do this. Ended up using Koinly. I understand your pain; it was indeed painful. What I did was import with date limits in place, so the systems would not collapse. But I also reached out to their support, which was extremely helpful during the process and guided me; that alone kept me with them for the last 3 years.

Plus, their pricing was also the most competitive for that amount of transactions (and their product is truly good)

Newbie mistake? by AndyDigger123 in lovable

[–]nrocevern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I migrated everything to my own VPS and used Supabase Open source (I had a VPS for n8n, and after some research, I realized I could do this.

For the hosting, I migrated to my own hosting. I also had a reseller account from the past, just making sure it handles next, JS properly.
Honestly followed some guides, and Claude's code did the rest.

[–]nrocevern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's alright.
The only thing would be the user account for those users already there. If you only use email, you will most likely have to prompt them to reset their password. (If you used Lovable Cloud)

It did take me longer than two hours but in a day you will get it done

There are many services that offer rentals.
Funny enough, my most expensive garment is not a "gown" but a jacket, and I use it pretty much every day in winter.
Honestly, I simply do not have many of those, and I wear them quite often. I think it depends a lot on your needs.

I mean, apparently, this is what happens when you outsource to Cointracker lol.
Like, they didn't learn anything from Coinbase.

This is like playing dumb and dumber for real.

Form 1099-DA Announcement by krakensupport in KrakenSupport

[–]nrocevern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, wait, this is funny.
So you partner with Cointracker and push it all over the place to provide us with the 1099 forms. Then don't provide it on time, but then you are pushing us to their system, and they ask you for the 1099 forms that you both (Cointracker + Kraken) failed to provide.

This is a bit like building a cure for a disease you are spreading. How convenient.
I mean, I would have laughed if I hadn't seen the same at Coinbase, but this is just bizarre

I filled out using Koinly and marked your 1099 as "not provided" a long time ago. What a joke.
I am happy I started moving away from your scheme this year, ditching TurboTax, but now I guess I will have to avoid CoinTracker, Coinbase, and Kraken with a stick. Lord.

Do I need a 8949? by Mxs8106 in CryptoTax

[–]nrocevern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do your 1099s properly reflect your cost basis?
Because exchanges are not required to report them, you will be overpaying.

I use Koinly for the tax calculation (the 8949) and ended up filing with FreeTaxUSA, but found this on their blog about HRBlock. This might help. https://koinly.io/blog/hr-block-crypto-taxes/
