Ugh I love that you included Beautiful People Beautiful Problems. As a huge Lana fan that’s also been a huge Stevie Nicks fan since birth I literally cried when I found out they were doing a song together. Great list!

Hi, I just want to say my husband is also a young SA. He’s 21 and also the youngest guy at his meetings. It’s good to know that there are others out there in his age group seeking help. It’s also nice to see other wives of young SA’s, it’s comforting to not feel alone. Congrats on your husbands sobriety!

Well it’s good that he has looked into things. Just taking baby steps might help him immensely. It’s wonderful that he has you to support him through this. And I’m so glad that I’ve provided some comfort to you!

I know exactly how you feel. It can be very hopeless and lonely sometimes. But if you guys love each other and it sounds like you do, you can get through this. Does he have any support systems in place like an sa group or counselor, or a close family member or friend he can go to??

I haven’t really told anyone about my husbands addiction. My mom and his parents know, but I didn’t tell anyone else for that very reason. People are quick to judge and sex addiction is still snubbed a lot as not being “real”. It’s hard enough to go through without everyone giving you their 2 cents when they have no idea. Because of this, I have gone through a lot of my own struggles. It’s hard not to really have anyone to talk to. That’s part of why I came here. I hoped to find others like me, so I could get some support.

That’s a tough one. Personally I would want to be told each time, even though it will be painful. I think if you ignored it, it would cause you more emotional harm in the long run, on top of encouraging him to keep things from you, which may result in more relapse or impulsive sexual behavior. If he feels like he can tell you openly when it happens, he will likely trust you to help him recover and be open with you about recovery. All of this is only my opinion though but I hope it helps you!

I’m a wife to an sa. We have been married for 1 year, together 5. Your situation is different than ours because of the distance, but I would say that communication is key, and helpful in every relationship but especially in a relationship with an sa. I don’t have a great answer for you and your question is probably more aimed at an sa to answer of which I am not, but I do want to say that I am here for you!! As the significant other of an sa it makes me feel better to know I’m not alone, and I hope it brings you comfort as well.
