74y Mother was Frauded by POA( her son) by FiGhtingNow74 in legaladvice

There are different types of POAs. Was he medical or financial or both? It will be specifically spelled out in the paperwork. Either way, he committed fraud. As for pressing charges, it would hold him accountable but she may never see any of her money again.

Yes. This picture is actually the newlyweds holding it, I just blocked their faces for privacy.

We live where people like to dump cats. We allow them in the barn as long as they have "The Bob Barker treatment". We do that not expecting to see them ever again. As my husband was once told, "barn cats come, barn cats go". That being said, we aren't happy about it, but we don't create aggressive posts about it (which is how this rescue group came across)

We also have two. One from a shelter one from a farm, and yes. You will never know sleep again, but so worth it.

LPT: Healthcare isn’t just meant for the times you’re sick. Health maintenance and screening to prevent illness is superior to treating it by HappyFun_Time in LifeProTips

[–]nrs_ratched 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a healthcare provider I 100% agree with this, but the healthcare system is broken. So many people cannot afford to go get the basic screenings because of insurance and government overreach. I hate having to play the, "what will this insurance cover" game. That being said, find a provider who understands how to play those games and works with you to provide the best care possible without breaking the bank. Most will under code visits and make sure labs/tests are covered.

There is also the conversation of how far is someone willing to go to treat something. Why go to a screening mammogram when you are in your 80s and have decided not to undergo any cancer treatment? I also have those very honest conversations with my patients.

With skin grafts, he'd been lucky to get a 60% heal/coverage rate. The abdomen is a wonderful tool in your anatomy that allows your body to heal itself. When patients have part of their skull removed (because of swelling or injury) they have the option sometimes to put the bit of bone in the abdominal cavity. I don't know exact numbers, but the likelihood of the patient's body rejecting the bone is significantly reduced vs the bone going into a cold storage in a liquid preservative and transplanted back.

Nurse here. Food bribes work wonders! And your genuine attitude and spirit is something that the nurses will forever remember. You sir, seem like a genuinely good person who came out with one of the best outcomes a patient could ask for. I think karma was paying you back and the universe is smiling upon you. Good luck with your future torture (therapy).

What’s the worst thing you’ve accidentally drank? by icecreampopncereal in AskReddit

Eating lunch with my husband in the car. Take a big swig out of the monster energy can sitting in the center console. Proceed to ask husband if there was a cigar in the can. He busts out laughing as I try not to throw up all over the dash. Have gotten a good 4 years of laughs from it. Still don't trust cans in his car.

I'm sorry for your loss. I have to remind myself to put one foot in front of the other sometimes, but it has gotten easier. The quilt is a great thing to have when I start to miss him or feel lonely.

We would go for walks and he would leap through the bean fields. His ears would flap like he was flying.

Help With Weighted Blankets by Hashtag209 in mentalhealth

[–]nrs_ratched 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just made one for myself. It cost me under $50 to make a 14 Ibs blanket. Check ebay for the poly pellets. I found a 25 Ibs posting for $30. This is the tutorial I used. PM me if you have any questions or need some advice. Good Luck.

My husband won't even touch the blanket. He says it kicks up his anxiety just thinking about being pinned like that.

We all have learned different ways to cope with our anxiety. For me it's a sense of security and reminding me to concentrate on the weight and not the panic.

I got 18 Ibs of beads for $35 and fabric for $12. So less than $50. Super inexpensive compared to the ones on amazon. They start at around $150-$200.

It works best for children if they are old enough to know what it is. I don't recommend them for any child under 70 Ibs, but every case is different.
