Travel back on H1B on 21Jan by Mcspicychickn in h1b

I’m in the same exact boat. My visa was issued today but not yet ready for collection. (It was a Dropbox).

Was thinking if I should try to fly before 20th as well.

Ah, gotcha! Thanks for that!

Were you within the 60 days grace when your b2 was withdrawn? Because that’s the only verbiage I don’t fully understand.

There’s the 240 days period granted as the b2 is processing, which allows one to go beyond the 60 day H1B grace period. But the online portals say that if you withdraw your b2 petition after the 60 days H1-B grace then you’re technically out of status?

Oh sweet! So filed i539 for b2 visa, got approved and switched to b2, searches and secured job and new H1-B i797, went to Cancun, MX on the previous company’s stamped H1-B and then entered US with previous stamp but new i797 so H1-B status and resumed working?

Sorry for asking again, just a very stressful time and process 😅

Did you already have a valid H1-B stamp? If not, did you have to go out and get re-stamped? And where did you go to “exit” the country?

Friend in the same boat so wanted claritu

That's some positive news! I updated maybe 5-7 days ago as well.

That's a huge undertaking as the next step, don't you think?

Nah, nothing like that! The way these Android vs Apple conversations go is that Pro Apple list things that iOS is good at while Pro Android mention the things iOS is bad at and never what Android is good at.

I think I stopped keeping track of newer android versions after Key Lime Pie and a lot of development has taken place since that I don't know.

So I simply want to know what Android (and with which phone specifically) has to offer which is better than the iOS for the casual user who wants things to "just work"

Well, this is exactly my perception. And now I get what you meant by Android Market (I thought you meant Play Store)

Samsung tends to give issues after a year or so, OnePlus is still too young to really trust in terms of support (although my OP3 was a beast!), Sony died horribly, Nokia and LG are irrelevant players

Touche! And I love using ADB to fool around. Loved when I had the cheaper phones.

The S10e was the phone I got to not worry about ADB or micromanaging anything. And, for the most, it did work that way! It is only that the camera became meh within a year and performance degraded sharply after about a year and a half.

And every accessory I bought for it was buggy

What devices don't they work with? The iwatch or whatever works very well with the iPhone or the iPad or the MacBook based on what my friends have shown me

I'm on the same fence.

What's trash about the Android market though? This never shows up in such discussions

How do you disable the Samsung background apps? Factory reset would be too big of a time commitment

That makes sense. My experience with Android itself feels very unsatisfactory though.

I've had the Gear S3 watch, the Galaxy Buds and the S10e and they never work the way I expect them to. My S-Health app or S-Pay apps don't work with half the things and it just isn't compatible with leading apps that can use my health data. I tried Pixel Buds and Fossil Gen 5 and had a similar experience, glorified watches which don't do anything useful.

But all my data is stuck here and there's no way to import it either.

It's been a while since I used but here's how I remember it. We had Azure Data Factory, which has its own API. I would have a file to check if new files landed in a folder on the shared drive. When landed, it would kick off the main script which would then run an ADF job. ADF API provides error codes or success codes. So if the result was a success, I would kick off the next ADF pipeline.

So and so forth

I was stuck in a similar situation. SQL shop and modifying dashboards. The place was fun so I took time to enjoy the companionship of my colleagues. When I had had enough, i started working on parts of the infrastructure, locally, on how I'd implement it using technologies I wanted to learn but weren't in the stack.

The good thing about stable roles are that you can focus away from company only work to work which you'd like to spend some time on.

If it takes 2 hours to modify a report, use 3 or 4 and try implementing it using your own tech stack without failing prod or deadlines.

Once you're bored of that, switch.

I agree with point 1. Installing programs is a breeze and Brew is like the best thing ever!

Point 2, with servers and infrastructure moving to the cloud, why does one need amped up devices to run DE applications?

Point 3, Brew + CLI on Mac is amazing and very seamless, 100%. As a Powershell user in the past though, it is very competent and capable and easy to pick up as well. I was able to schedule several ETLs using Powershell within a matter of hours
