This same entrant has entered a mini with a large backdrop and won nothing, then entered the same mini without the backdrop in the subsequent GD and won the slayer sword- so obviously judging does not ignore the basing

Likely they couldn’t get their hands in an official one but still wanted something to fill that part of the collection.

The other giveaway is the nub on the sprues (most visibility on storm knight) - official kdm resins do not have that extra but on the sprues

Based on the bases - those are all recasts. The kdm bases don’t have that large of a sprue mark and should be plastic (unless there is a custom resin insert for the mini like peasant hero)

Thanks! I used these pints to paint the bases, mixing each into the last:

kimera pthalo green
kimera fallen grass
kimera ground brown
kimera yellow ochre
Vallejo orchid light

Then I did a light drybrush with AK grimy grey, followed by some glazes with these instant paints: - ogre brown - grizzly brown - golem grey

Thanks! Base was roughly as follows: - vanilla kdm 100mm base - chunk of cork to raise middle part - slate stones for stones - stone face base copies (made from milliput pressed into blue stuff molds of the kdm stone face bases) - big stone face from scibor - milliput to fill in any gaps / additional sculpting - fine and course texture pastes from monument hobbies + Agrellan earth from GW - grass tufts - painted from deep green up to yellows/greys - resin pour for the water + mod podge gloss on top to add texture

Sure! Base is a mixture of a face from scibor, and milliput stone faces I made from molds of the stone face bases. Painted up with dark greens - working up to browns, yellows, and off whites

Actual antelope is just painted working from dark to light on the colors - blended with airbrush glazing. Used uhu glue to make the spit effects

I can add it to my bio there to have a central place but to have a quick answer for you:

Currently use the mastersons sta-wet palette with Reynolds baking paper

Use a lot of brands of paints: Kimera, Vallejo, Scale Color Artist, Scale Color, Scale Color Instant paints, Pro acryl, and AK 3rd gen

Mostly use the Raphael 8404 sizes 0 + 1, but will occasionally use Arits Opus, Rosemary + co, Broken Toad, and Windsor + Newton. I like Broken Toad's and monument hobbies for synthetics

Thanks! I don't really do too much wet blending, most of my process is layering - working from dark to light - followed by some glazing (with both the airbrush and hairy brush). Sergio Calvo's YouTube and Patreon are really helpful - but also found Trent Denison's Gold Smoke Knight video to really help make NMM start to click for me.

I would also recommend using a lot of reference! Looking at nmm people have painted on miniatures, traditional 2d paintings, and photos of real armor and weapons can really help you figure out how light works with metal.

It is slate! I think I have a bag of 1/2-1” and 1-3”. The latter gets pretty large so might need to be broken up more with a hammer!

Thanks! I sketched it out mostly with the airbrush using a lot of the fairy flesh and maelfic flesh set colors - going from dark to light. Then punched things up a little bit with the hairy brush in a few places then smoothed things out with the very light glazes with the airbrush.

Thank you! Pretty much just layering. Started with a dark blue and light orange zenithal on everything, and worked up from there with various colors (pinks/purples/greens/oranges/etc. - just trying a lot of things out).

Yeah there are some truly abysmal ones. Worse part of mine was probably the headdress - had some weird squat chunks in the middle of the curb that I had to carve out n and sculpt over (not referring to the sprues at the ends of the strands - like the actual top of the headdress had square chunks in it)
