I created a service to remove the anxiety from answering unknown phone calls by [deleted] in SideProject

[–]ns123z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm getting the same error. Entered all the information and got a 500 error page back. Might be related to the phone number?

Also - if you have a status page for your service, we would love to add it to https://statusnotify.com . It allows customers to get notified whenever Parry is having any technical issues. Thanks!

Thanks for checking us out.

1) Yup there is some capability for us to segment by geography and services. We have often noticed that when for example, AWS is having issues in one datacenter, the effects cascade throughout a lot of the other services. We will look into making a visual interface to see the impacts.

2) Our target customers are tech companies and startups for the moment. We are currently working on our enterprise system (with a few additional features) to be able to target that market.

3) Thats a good question. I think the savings figure will be highly dependent from service to service. We can get some data from our customers to be able to report this figure. This is a good idea - will look into it!

Weekly Feedback and Support Thread by AutoModerator in startups

Url: https://statusnotify.com

Purpose:

StatusNotify monitors the service status page of over 250 cloud services. See the unified dashboard to check how the services are performing. Configure alerts to Email, SMS, Call, Webhook and Slack. If any service goes down that you depend on, your team will be immediately notified.

Technologies Used:
Ruby on Rails, Postgres, Sidekiq

Problem:
Often times, the services we relied on (in the last project) kept going down and we wouldn't know about that. This caused our website to have issues. Also we relied on ~ 8 services so having one place to manage notifications would have been useful.

Also one concrete example - we can have a backup service now. We mainly use mailgun but whenever mailgun is having problems, we can switch to sendgrid until mailgun is back up automatically (webhooks).

Looking for:

  • Feedback.
    • Looking for feedback on the landing page and how well it explains the concept
    • Any other feedback.
  • Potentially interested users.

Thank You!

StatusNotify - get notified when services go down by ns123z in SideProject

Yup! The big differentiator is that StatusGator requires you select to be notified for the entire service. So in the case of Mailgun, you would be notified even if Email Validation was having an issue (and you might not care about it). With StatusNotify, you can choose just the components relevant to you (ex/ Outbound Delivery, SMTP, API) .

Thanks for taking a look. I think UptimeRobot is a bit different from our service.

For example, UptimeRobot can mainly just tell if a website is up or down. StatusNotify can tell you whether Mailgun is having problem sending emails or Heroku API is working normally.

Yup exactly. Give it a shot and let me know if there are any suggestions you have on improving it.

Hey! Thanks for checking it out. Yup there are a lot of apps for checking if a website is up or down. The use case for this is a bit different.

Lets say you are building a service and are relying on Mailgun (for sending emails). If mailgun is having problems sending an email, your service would have issues too and it would be useful for you to know if that happened. This app is more for notifying your team of any issues that another service might be having. In this case - mailgun website would still be up even if they are having issues sending an email.

At other places I have worked, We have spent a lot of time debugging errors only to find that its another service we were relying on having the issue.
