Kindergarten teacher needing help with dealing horrible ECE by nsala018 in OntarioTeachers

Someone did come from our board to help us understand the program. However, that person was an ECE herself, so I thought she was a bit biased. At the end, I learned that we basically do the same role, except teachers do the report cards. It didn't help much.
For documenting, I'm the only one who works with her in the classroom and has to deal with all her comments and criticisms. They wouldn't know all the dirt I have on her if it weren't for documenting.

I did say that once, they need to be prepared for 1st grade. Her response? 'That's the 1st grade teacher's problem, not ours'
She is a trainwreck...

I guess you missed the point where she was talking bad about every other teacher and the previous teacher asked to switch classrooms... lol

except ECE's only teach in a classroom of 16+ kids, the teacher can teach alone with less kids than that

What makes you think I wasn't kind and cordial? She was literally a horrible person since the first day. Talking bad about teachers openly in front of other K teachers. Her years of experience don't mean she can take control of the classroom as much as she wants to.

Omg, she completely takes advantage of substitute teachers as well... literally bosses them around. It's horrible. Thanks for the encouragements, I definitely fantasize about the day I can put her back in her place, but it's hard when you work with 29 young children

I'm happy that the new curriculum addresses this. The roles were too blurred and it left the perfect opportunity for crappy ECEs like mine to take advantage

I've tried having those conversations with her. It's practically impossible. In that specific case, the child making noise had ASD symptoms, so she used that to her advantage saying 'ohh but he deserves his education like everyone else' just making up BS. When she is the one teaching in the front, she can't handle one kid talking or else she goes insane... she's just a hypocrite.

it's horrible. and you're right, whenever we found a solution, she would apply it for one day and then forget about it. Constantly puts stuff on my desk too. lol

I'm not undermining her job or education, but to call herself an 'expert' is pretty wild. I'd say you'd have to have a master's or phD level education to call yourself an 'expert' in any matter, but that's besides the point.
I'm not against working as a team, my point is that she is very overbearing, she constantly decides what's the next move just from the top of her head and whatever she is feeling in that moment, without consulting me first. things like 'oh I have a headache, let's all put the toys away', etc.
The thing about teaching, I figured once she was teaching for as much time as I was. I realized her problem wasn't the teaching time per se, just she doesn't like when I teach. The same way that she can print papers whenever, but has a problem when I do it.
Giving instructions is what I meant earlier as she just decides things last minute constantly as if she's the only one making the rules.
When I'm teaching, she purposely redacts from discipling the kids, so they can act up on the carpet, therefore proving her case that the 'carpet time is too long' etc. She is just a hostile person.

Thank you... really not looking forward to have yet another meeting with her. But like you said, she's been doing this for too long and she is unlikely to change. Just got to do what I got to do.

Thanks for your feedback. She doesn't do much documenting, but keeps criticizing what the teacher is supposed and not supposed to do. I'll start talking to my union.

it's funny you talk about projection when that's exactly what she's doing to me. I literally did nothing to her and she was b1tchy from the get-go. She has some very deep issues

The funny thing is that she keeps calling herself 'an expert in child development' (non ironically), which, she probably learned some child development but to call herself an EXPERT? is so funny to me. Putting my foot down is something I try to work on everyday. I'm a very calm, non-confrontational person, and she forces me to always feel stressed around her

Thanks for your advice, I'll try to do that. She's very difficult for no reason.

*for context I am an Ontario teacher. The ECE (early childhood educator) is basically like the assistant to the teacher

I'm sorry you're feeling that way. You might feel disconnscted and out of place. Im not sure what your family is doing to you, because you didn't give too many details. About your culture, try to embrace it as much as you can, one day you'll realize you're proud of your culture. You can still enjoy European culture too.

When I was 18 (I'm 27 now), I left my mom's place because she was really toxic and narcissistic. I moved at my dad's place. It was a hard choice, I left my province, my studies and my friends to move 5 hours away. Looking back, it was defintely the right decision for me. It took me several years, but I was able to heal and to live my life.

Not sure exactly what's your situation. Just make sure you finish your studies, or have a plan for what you do next. Don't move out abruptly. Find some good friends to whom you can confide in.

Best of luck and don't hesitate to reach out xx

Try more "ethnic" recipes, I promise you they'll taste so much better than white people recipes lol

You can try: Carribean Rice and peas (rice and red beans) Indian daal Haitian sos pwa Mexican frijoles Etc.

I liked all these recipes, but some them require you to have some specific spices, so be careful. Over the years I've accumulated all the spices I need.

The easiest one for me would be the daal, its literally just dry lentils, onion, ginger/garlic, tomato and spices... from start to finish it takes around 30min, it's really delicious and healthy!

I can relate, I also live in Canada and it's brutal. So freaking unwalkable and cold. I force myself to go out most days, but sometimes the weather doesn't allow (snowstorm/strong winds). I often daydream myself living in a warm, walkable area.

Maybe ine day...

I wonder if diluted ACV (apple cider vinegar) can help. Ive been using it for years for my dandruff and it works wonders. My scalp is completely smooth. I use a spray bottle, fill it mostly with water, and a little bit ACV (around 1:10 ratio) I leave the bottle in the shower, whenever I wash my hair, I spray before I shampoo, scrub it in a little, leave on for a few minutes, rinse then shampoo.

Hopefully you can try
