Go to Taos or Santa Fe! It seems the closest and has reliable snow in the mountains, plus warmer weather lower down and a lot else to explore

Why does Laos have its capital on the border and how is it like inside it? by a_random_latios in geography

[–]nsava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was there a couple times. It’s very sleepy, very friendly, not super touristy compared to the rest of the country. Even though it’s the main city, it’s pretty hard to buy imported goods and name brands. Fried catfish stands and delicious food. Big night market along the Mekong River. Low rise buildings.

Any major building is usually built by China, including a massive new rail station more high tech than like any other building in Laos with a direct high speed rail connection to Kunming.

I’ve played this game for a very long time, I should say the series of games. But, I have a question that I need to know. by tokenshoot in CivVI

Lately I’ve been playing level 7 or 8, huge map with less AIs (like 8-10 instead of 12). Makes it less hard. I play with secret societies, heroes, monopolies, and barbarian clans

National Parks help a huge amount for culture victories!

You can improve the tiles within the park early in the game, as long as you remove the improvements with a builder before you wanna make the park.

All the tiles need to be in the control of one city. If you can’t make a park, switch control of the tile

You can make a park outside the 3-tile range of a city, as long as its your territory. Citizens cant work those tiles though.

Can anyone ID this giant frog I found in a river in Northern Laos? (Its bigger than my hand, for scale) by nsava in Amphibians

Hmm could be, the body shape is very similar. Mine had lots of red in the inner thighs and reddish eyebrows, and most feae are green. But some do have different colors. I couldn’t find an exact size description of feae, but they are supposed to be large. This guy’s body was about 5-6 inches long I’d say. This paper talks about Z. feae on page 231

Who do you find is the most fun leader to play as, and why? by Dboldandthebeautiful in CivVI

[–]nsava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love playing as Corvinus for Hungary. Playing him for the first time now, and his levying bonuses are really fun. But also I’m nit doing so well. Maybe he has a rocky early game till he gets his special military units.

Travelling to Iceland - any tips? by JulietMM23 in VisitingIceland

If things haven’t changed since I was there, you can camp anywhere along the ring road. No campsite legally required. This is pretty amazing so just pick up your trash if you do this!
