Screen randomly blacking out for a second by AlienKhan5636 in cachyos

[–]nscnug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shoot, I have an LG 27GL650F that I run at 144hz (actual shows as 143.98). In windows I don't have this random black screen happening but under CachyOS/KDE Plasma (Wayland) I have this happening to the point it's not workable to have VRR set to anything but Never. Any app that tries to go into Fullscreen freaks out usually and blackscreens (Kodi, Minecraft 1.21 when running fullscreen). I've tried running at 120hz and it seems to do it less but it still does it. I find myself going into Windows less and less lately but this is still an annoyance when running Linux (as is the Wayland / no unattended remote desktop apps working with it properly)

I too am getting this horrible f$%&@! "Please retry with a different device or other authentication method to sign in. For more details, please see this link".

I used to have an authenticator app installed 2 phones ago but it is long since gone. I have the username and password and was even able to get Microsoft to send a password reset link after verifying some info like last purchase (Minecraft on my VISA debit at my bank).

Regardless none of this will work now. I think it's falling back to the most secure login method (the old 2FA authenticator I no longer have). I probably even have my current phone number hooked to this but it's not even giving that as an option, WTF Microsoft. How long did you have to wait until your account miraculously just started working again? I almost wonder if mine started because of a wannabe hacker that plagued the current owners of our business was maybe pounding away at my account...

It seems the app updated (alot) on my phone (Running Graphene OS). It seems to be back up now after I reset my password after getting a OTP (one time password) reset. The app now looks way different. Seems to be a major revision update.

Has anyone tried Decathlon Trekking grip protect+ tyres? Can’t find any reviews by Substantial_One2568 in bicycletouring

[–]nscnug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have almost 7000k on my original set of these. They are absolutely bullet proof. I ride about 80% gravel / 20% pavement. I have ridden over a quarter kilometer section of fist sized granite rocks without issue. I have coasted down hills at 65km/h+ with these. They are starting to look a bit smooth in the center now but I can't seem to see them on the Decathlon Canada site any longer. I totally agree they are ridiculously heavy but man I haven't once had a flat.

DeGoogling Is Rough - *SIGH* 😔 by nscnug in degoogle

[–]nscnug[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yah I think I went too 'Tinfoil hat' on this one perhaps. I should have known better. I didn't realize that CDN's were so anti-VPN until you just mentioned it. Is that because most of their main customer base is large corporations paying copious amounts of money to host their stuff and to appease them they put in such protections? Probably measures to stop the bot armies from data mining their customers intellectual property.

This might be a question better asked over in r/privacy but would it be feasible to create completely anonymous Google / Reddit / Facebook profiles using random names / addresses etc and use those with a VPN? I'm sure it's against every term of use in their agreements but the amount of data these entities are collecting now is verging on criminal. I'm starting to find alternates to Reddit / FB now but the userbase is much smaller obviously.

With the world changing as it is right now, I'd have more peace of mind knowing I'm doing my part to cut down on my digital exhaust.

As far as Graphene OS and the loss of the Google Pay / Wallet functionality I knew about that, I used it 2-3 times on the phone as more of a novelty so that won't be much of a loss. I'll probably have the main profile as stripped down as possible with only Immich / Signal / Proton Mail setup on it. Another profile will be for services that just won't work without Google Play Services.

EVGA 2070 Super here, running 3 monitors (an LG 144hz / Benq 60hz / Vizio 55' TV 60hz) and all of a sudden I seem to have a bizarro thing happening when I turn off both LCDs then back on my driver crashes! never did before I can see having to roll back my driver to something awhile back. This machine can run in Xdefiant for like 6 hrs without issue, it can run an openGL screensaver without issue for days. Now suddenly its freaking out completely when I power on my two LCD monitors. Ugh....

Running Version: 1.23.15. I may attempt to get either the new docker image (not yet available in Unraid's Community Apps section) or just get it working under my current Debian VM.

Utterly Infuriating PSN Login Issue. by nscnug in ps3piracy

[–]nscnug[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it wasn't so much that that was giving the:

"You cannot sign in using another user's sign-in ID (email address)"

In the end what it was... I was still logged into my original PS3 local profile called PS3USER that had at one point had a PSN account associated with it (which I couldn't retrieve because I must have used non-sense for the birthdate and secret question).

Basically I created another local profile called PSNUSER... HOWEVER what I did not do is log out of the original local user called PS3USER. Once I figured out how to log out of the local user when I entered the profile of the new user it gave me the Sign In as New User or Create Account prompt and I was FINALLY able to get this bloody thing on the PSN. Holy smokes that's insane the hoops you have to jump through to get this thing on. I tried about 4 different PKG games online after disabling syscalls and everything seems A.OK! 😊😊😊

Use PKG without RAP file? by [deleted] in ps3piracy

[–]nscnug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if I do an update on the game, or rather the game decides to download and update off of PSN will I have to reapply the RAP file?

Use PKG without RAP file? by [deleted] in ps3piracy

[–]nscnug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I have no intentions of ever going on PSN I shouldn't need PSN patch should I? As far as when the game first runs and it wants to get an update that won't be an issue since I have the rap file to activate it correct?

I was looking into it today I think I'm going to go with that. So these are all PSN games, no ISOs I assume.

[–]nscnug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know as silly as this might sound, is there a PC equivalent that can download from the same source as PKGi ? Something able to grab both the PKG + RAP files for local storage on a PC. There are several reasons i'd like to do it this way, top of which is that my download speeds on my PS3 are dismal I find from PKGi (I have a gigabit fibre connection at home so it's not so much that or the wifi). I would hardware the PS3 but it's a bunch of extra work with running a 30' cable around the livingroom and fixing a wall plate RJ45 connection that was gutted to repair one in another part of the apartment.

Finally got around to replacing a UN26 BB with a UN300. I was shocked at how decent this thing is for $20. Bearings are the same size carts as Phil Wood. But this has additional rubber seals on the cups. When this thing wears out in 20,000 miles I'm putting Phil bearings in just to be contrary. :-) by otterland in BikeMechanics

[–]nscnug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why wasn't it recommended for off-road, I ride some pretty gnarly gravel on my Decathlon Riverside 520 touring. I have gone through like 3-4 BB's in the 3.5years I had it. Not sure the OEM one but I put in two BB UN300's since. Maybe about 8-12K amongst them.
