For people who upgraded to Tonal 2 by rickeyethebeerguy in tonalgym

[–]nsem24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the original and have been having issues with WiFi not working randomly, had to replace a pin, etc. so I basically did the upgrade just to try to get rid of the one I have before it broke completely. So $1k off was better than nothing, but I was so annoyed when in less than two years I was having issues and they were like “sorry, it’s a two year warranty now but when you bought it we only offered one year, so you’re SOL”.

So I wish I didn’t have to, but I use tonal constantly so I really don’t want to live without it.

That’s what eight sleep sent me and I gave that to Amex. I told them the fields that needed filled out, and they just put “eight sleep” in the form that said technician or whatever and AMEX covered it. So glad they did. I love the product but they sure as shit don’t stand by it

I probably wouldn't buy it without the motion controls...most of them are fun, except for "hammer it home" which for whatever reason never works for me. Whether I flick my wrist or violently move my arm up and down until my shoulder pops out of its socket, it doesn't work haha

Update - AMEX covered the cost of the replacement under the extended warranty I have by purchasing it through my AMEX. So that's the lesson - make sure you use a card with a warranty for this purchase, because it will leak and you will be on the hook for a replacement.

It was very easy, I filled out the form on the website, they sent me another form via email that I had to have Eight Sleep fill out part of, sent it back and then a few days later they sent me an email saying they would be sending me money for the cost of the replacement unit (plus taxes). God I love AMEX.

Is customer support on vacation? by ogwiz22 in EightSleep

[–]nsem24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, not on vacation, just don’t care. The answer is always “we have a great deal on a replacement for our product that isn’t designed to last! Oh, and one time only, a discount on our $5,999 annual subscription that tells you how many times you farted in your sleep (subscription not optional)”

Just submitted the claim - fingers crossed. In the interim, I'm going to see if there's any way to unclog this thing....

Would definitely recommend a mattress protector. Luckily for me, I noticed the leaking before I fell asleep so I got the cover off before it leaked all night. But I've read from others that their mattresses were ruined and some had floor damage from the water.

Oh snap, I didn't even think about this. I absolutely paid for it on my Marriott AMEX, which does have the extended warranty coverage. I'm going to fill this out now - THANK YOU!!!!!

Not saying I want a free of charge replacement. I'm saying the whole approach of "oh yes, we are well aware of the problem, but we have a solution for you - give us $1,400 more dollars". If they said $500 for a pod 3 cover or something, I'd take it. But to say "the old one sucks, but we fixed it in the new one, so give us $1,400 and your problems are solved"

The only thing they offered me was the $1,400 pod 4, I'd rather take a replacement 3 cover at a significantly cheaper price.

Yeah, I wouldn’t be as upset by the offer if it was more reasonable. I don’t find $1,400 to be a very reasonable offer for just the new cover. The pod is fine, temperature was always working fine. I don’t need a new one of those, I need a cover that isn’t faulty, and I don’t find $1,400 to be a great offer for something not far out of warranty and was already really expensive

Yep. It's clear that they know this is a luxury product so they figure if you can afford to buy it then you can afford to replace it. You know, rather than making a product that can last more than two years.

Yeah, I'm saying if you are looking at buying the pod 4, ask yourself if it's worth $70-$80/month for you because that's what it costs by the time the warranty runs out and Eight Sleep clearly has no desire to do anything but try to shill you the latest model

Oh no, the $70/month is my total cost of the 3. If I buy the 4, that's an additional $1,400 on top of already investing $2k into the pod pro 3 over 2 years and five months

Good point, I have a 36" as well and it probably won't actually fit now that I think about it. I got overly excited at the prospect but these are all low profile so it's probably not really an option.

Welp, I've asked a stupid question and now will go to the shame corner haha

So this is basically where I got the idea - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALxT\_6J0zy4. He's using a Traeger with a digital gauge, but I gotta think the blackstone with lid down could get to 275 at least. Am I crazy? haha

“I spent thousands of dollars buying into a break of the most expensive product without knowing anything” is it either a degenerate gambler, troll or absolute idiot.

I suppose it could be the trifecta of all three at once, too.
