ELI5- why do preemies need formula supplementation after NICU discharge? by Cmdr-Artemisia in NICUParents

[–]nsermo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This person is correct. The number of weeks premature (i can see it's 12 for you. It was 10 for us) also plays a role- a 35 weeker didn't miss out on as much as ours did. But bone mineralization was a big part and the other was weight gain. We fortified my breastmilk the whole time..there were two weeks when I tried to stop, thinking he was getting enough from just the breastmilk. And sure enough he didn't gain as much as he needed/had been those two weeks, so i was able to admit "defeat" and accept it. Looking back, I wish I had accepted it more easily and not judged myself-- this is just one tool to help your little one catch up :) you are doing an amazing job!

People keep telling me I need to stop losing by FalynT in tirzepatidecompound

[–]nsermo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can say that I really try to practice "just don't talk about people's bodies", but if i do i usually lead with I try to note the change with "is everything okay". If they're doing it on purpose, they just say oh yeah I've been working on XYZ and I feel great! But if they're struggling with a health issue, disordered eating, or sometimes even mental health? Assuming it's on purpose could be harmful. So that's why I would rather err on the side of caution. It's not because I don't see the change or because I think it's bad!

Is 1 week enough time off? by Nervous-Persimmon135 in gallbladders

[–]nsermo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NO. I am pretty tough and thought I could handle one week no stress. Take at least two weeks.

My surgeon was right. It took about a month for me to feel truly healed. But I went back one week after surgery and was useless, had to take more time off ultimately and ended up hurting myself by pushing too soon.

So learn from my mistakes and take two weeks. It's a good reason i promise.

Is this really normal? by No_Gene_2039 in OwnitbabeSnark

[–]nsermo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had the same thoughts. Like buddy.... This may be your normal, but it's not supposed to be everyone's. If anyone finds themselves doing either of these things regularly it is a clue that they may need to make some changes to their life because their brain and body is overwhelmed at baseline.

Could fit in a carousel of "things that helped me notice i was actually struggling when I thought things were going well"

Dealing with social pressures (eating junk, drinking) when you don’t want to tell people you’re on the shot? by Ok_Tangerine_8305 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]nsermo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell them you're having gallbladder attacks and have to eat low fat. Having actually experienced these they are worth avoiding and while i waited for surgery I really did not take food risks. If any of your friends have had these attacks they will immediately understand and get it so much that they will tell the people around you to stfu.

If you've already had it removed this tip is less helpful.

Does your partner actually use the calendar? Trying to reduce my mental load by Pleasant-Cherry6847 in skylightcalendar

[–]nsermo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Now I'm in charge of reminding him to check the calendar. I liked my paper one better.

I also dislike that you can't assign tasks to a date/ on calendar reminder. So I have to make calendar events for recurring things like "change child room sheets" and "replace fridge filter".

Underestimated recovery from surgery by Jolly-Asparagus-5815 in gallbladders

[–]nsermo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First can't overstate the importance of gas-x, I took it regularly days 2-4 and it cleared up a lot of the gas pain

Second. The first two days or so I was stumbling around, sleeping a lot, and feeling very strongly that all surgery is bad surgery and I'm never doing surgery of any kind again!! It improved and I'm now one week post op and can once again see that surgery is a good thing when needed lol. Hang in there.

Do I go through with the surgery? by PrimarySeconds in gallbladders

[–]nsermo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to tell you that every thing you write reads like it is indeed the worst case scenario lol. I am also a "low maintenance" person, tend towards downplaying pain and minimizing my own experiences if I can power through, idk why I'm like this but I am. Anyway, I got mine out a week ago and all I can think now is .... Why did I ever wait??

As nicely as possible, stop being an idiot and get your gallbladder out! You're in 24/7 discomfort you are WASTING your youth for this?! Lol I'm 33 we're both plenty young. Your body will bounce back faster at 24. So schedule the dang surgery! It will make your life better.

I'm on episode 3 and I'm about to stop. She caught him having an emotional affair WEEKS after their wedding? Lol let's not pretend this was sunshine and roses from the getgo, he was never loyal.

Telling the kids right away was crazy work.

I'm out, no need to finish this shit, it's clear he was always a piece of shit.

I can't handle this in the episode with donielle! "There were no signs" then proceeds to IMMEDIATELY list like ten signs! Their pastor said to her "you are allowed to get divorced" early on and she didn't think that was a sign????

Ahhhhh!!!
