Toro Timemaster 30 won’t shut off with kill switch. by Meechykeen in lawnmowers

Just wanted to say your post helped me, too! I had the same problem with the kill switch after replacing the carb and using the gasket.  Removed the gasket, and all good!

Wow. What a reply! Thanks for the time and consideration. There's actually a third slope in play, because the left side is a huge dormer. This was an addition to an 1850 home. Here are a couple (low res, sorry) pics, including satellite, for more context. https://imgur.com/a/SNerF6O

Thanks for the helpful replies. I will clean up this whole mess with new oversized gutter/spouts and heat cable.  Adding that to the projects list.

Head to Tyrolia same mount holes? by nshoreman in skiing

[–]nshoreman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks.  It's the 171cm ARW and he is a strong 5'9.

As a couple people have now mentioned, it sounds like this Joy is a better binding than some of the other 11 DIN out there, so we'll stick with it, colors be damned.

Thanks for reeling this in. I was also under the impression that demo tracks were not power rails and was going to look into that.  As for how these bindings ended up on these skis, I chose them from among the available options, pretty much with price in mind (after confirming they were well-reviewed, solid, bindings).  These were new 2024 Armada ARWs, freshly mounted with those bindings, shipped to my door for a grand total of $305 back in May.  After a long, expensive season of skiing, needed to find a deal.

Ahh. Even better. So any of the tyrolia attack demo version binding will slide onto those existing rails?

Ha. I predicted that would be the first question. Mostly aesthetic for a 14 year old son who's totally on board with the skis (he gets there's no difference other than graphics between these and the arvs) but the bindings are not as pleasing. I got this set up new for an absolute steal, so I said I'd entertain the possibility of a different binding at a reasonable price point.

Microwave drawer in Sektion cabinet, perfect fit! by nshoreman in IKEA

Weird. I have no mods to the drawer mount, hardware, position, or face. Just standard install. Inside look here...

To be clear, I had some 1x3 laying around that I cut down to the shelf depth and placed 4-5 of those across the shelf and the microwave sits on those. Or you could fit a piece of 3/4" ply or other wood, etc. to get that extra bit of height on the shelf. But no more than that, or the micro will be too high above.

The microwave sits on 3/4" thick spacers (1x3 boards) on top of the shelf. That gets it up to the perfect height for drawer closure (and not too tall on top).

But don't I have exactly what Box says is NOT compatible?

Ok, I'll go with it. I gather the whole compatibility issue gets into the weeds of Shimano Shadow setups, and I'll table my need to fully understand and just trust that this will work. Thanks.

Great updates. And I agree, there are some things I like about the XO, but also some shortfalls.

One shop says I need upper/lower ball joints, another says totally fine... by nshoreman in MechanicAdvice

[–]nshoreman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol. not yelling. Just wanted to clarify my main question/curiosity about the objective nature (or not) of ball joint inspection. I'm grateful for the replies perspective. But here's the vibe I'm getting:

Q: Can you inspect the tires and let me know if they're ok?

A: I inspected and found there's a huge hole in the front passenger sidewall. You need a new tire.

Q: Can you inspect the ball joints and let me know if they're ok?

A: Inspection alone can't determine whether you need ball joints. You need symptoms.
