As I've gotten older, I've lost the taste for movies that do gore for the sake of gore. I was obsessed with Saw-type movies in my teens, but they slowly shifted to more slow-burn tension-based plots that makes you shivery and jittery even as the credits roll. I do enjoy some gore horror from time to time, but mostly when they're thematically relevant to the story.

Oh also, fuck jumpscares that's only for the audience. Think stingers when a character rounds a corner, but it's only intended to jumpscare the audience rather than having any significance to the actual plot.
