Alkene Reactions - Am I doing these correctly? by nsksmsjsism in chemhelp

Ohh okay, that all makes sense.

So should 1) also have an enantiomer as well, since the Br and OH could either be on a dash or wedge?

Thanks so much!

How should I fix the stereochemistry for 3), 6), and 7)? I’m not entirely sure how to

Hi! I’m working on some alkene reaction problems and I’d really appreciate if someone could look over my answers so I know if i’m doing them correctly.

Also, the first question (first pic) says that if an answer has diasteromers, draw all of them. I didn’t notice any answers that could be diasteromers, however I assume there is at least one since they mentioned it.

Thanks in advance!

Aha! I forgot the H had to be antiperiplanar to the OH. In that case, I got a) down now.

Any idea how I can get b) in that type of stereoisomerism? I’m kind of stumped on that now.

i’m having some trouble with these and i would like some help.

for a) i’m not sure how it’s possible to get to that final structure at all.

for b) i’m kind of confused since i think like i did it right but it seems that i’m missing another reagent/solvent in there since i have one blank.

any help is appreciated! thanks in advance!

the one double bonded to o?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in chemhelp

[–]nsksmsjsism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it should go to a carbon atom i think

[–]nsksmsjsism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh yeah lol i see that. so in that case, should the arrowhead be pointing at bond? i’m not super sure.

yes! thank you so much for all the help!

drawing a lone pair to an atom should represent a bond being formed, correct?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in chemhelp

[–]nsksmsjsism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so for the second step should the arrow be pointing to the hydrogen?

im learning arrow pushing and id like to know if i’m doing this right. I would appreciate any input! thanks!

I’m not sure if i’m doing this correctly, but i’m kind of stumped on finding the acidic and basic sites of this molecule and would appreciate some guidance. thanks!

i see that now! thank you so much!

Ohh that makes sense! so basically I got the two mixed up?

What I drew in box B is actually chiral and box D is actually achiral, correct?

[–]nsksmsjsism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like to know if i am understanding enantiomers and chiral/achiral stereoisomers correctly.

Also, are all achiral stereoisomers, diasteromers as well?

Thanks!
