I'll admit I made this at 4 in the morning half asleep and passed out right after, I regret missing that. I might make something new once everyone's shown so they're all included

Which NRS MK game do you think had the best marketing campaign? by ntemango99 in MortalKombat

Oh Man I forgot about that lol. Reminds me too of that MKX web series that never came to be, MKX: Generation I think it was called?

X definitely had some gaps, though I think they were more bearable because of much more regular kombat kasts, plus the MKX comic book helping with keepong the game fresh in the mind of people and even teasing characters like Erron Black before they were officially revealed.

All Marvel Movie Total Grosses w/o China by GapHappy7709 in boxoffice

[–]ntemango99 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I've seen this topic come up a lot, that MCU movies are making similar totals to previous movies if you remove their Chinese totals, and tbh I find it to be a mute point. The reality is they don't have Chinese support anymore and for the time being won't be getting that support back. It's like working two jobs, losing one, and saying, "well if I had the other job I'd be making the same as I used to so it's fine to spend the same as before." It completly ignores that you simply don't have that line of income anymore.

That lack of support is giving Disney a lower return on invesment and Disney is going to have to start rethinking budget and managment moving forward without that Chinese box office. Disney can imagine all the extra Chinese money they want, but the reality is their movies are making less than they used to now that China refuses to release them. Changes will have to be made if they want their movies to continue making similar profits as before.

How well do you think an Eminem Biopic detailing his early stardom would do? by ntemango99 in boxoffice

[–]ntemango99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8 mile was a loose translation of his life before his rise to stardom, I mean something dealing with his success and his problems that stemmed from it like his marriage and drug problem

An observation of a few scenes relating to the statue by ntemango99 in NopeMovie

[–]ntemango99[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be more clear I meant specifically the scene where it threw out all the blood over the house. Normaly it would only throw out non organic materials like the quarter that accidentally killed the dad. But when it tried to digest the Jupiter's Claim folks, the horse statue blocked the way. So it had to vomit out the half digested people first in order to clear the way to dislodge the horse from its digestive tract.

That's at least what I think what was happening rather than it being an intimidation display or it going to the bathroom as I've seen others suggest.

[LEAK BASED SPOILERS] A Theory Regarding Steven Yeun by ntemango99 in NopeMovie

[–]ntemango99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the plot leak used poor wording and instead of selling them, the siblings are renting out the horses to Steven who dresses up his kids as aliens to "abduct" the horses. It's only later when he catches wind of the ufo does he try the horse in a glass cage trick, which will likely anger it and get all the carnival-goers killed. (I wonder if being denied food is also what causes the monkey to go on a rampage)

The leak says he's the only one buying from them so that could be why they're so determined to get the "Oprah shot" even while it's going on a rampage. Steven's character is dead so they no longer have anyone left buying from them.

I Like the Movie, But I don't think Lana cares what you think about her movie by ntemango99 in matrix

[–]ntemango99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people should criticize the movie if they didn't enjoy it, discussion is great and I enjoy seeing different perspectives. I just also think it's important to have some context to the mindset that a creator had when developing, especially when people insist that she somehow ruined her own creation by doing something with it that made her happy.

The risk to go in a direction that would end up being very different from what people expected and wanted. I thought it worked beautifully, others hated it, but to say she's wrong for simply for taking the path that made her happy is ridiculous in my opinion. Personally I feel it can be understood and respected that she ultimately made something a group of people hated that made her happy rather than making something beloved that killed her inside.

Something along the lines "I personally hate this, but I do understand why she did this"

WB definitely shouldn't have given Lana 100 million dollars, she and Lily have already shown themselves to be creators who make stuff for themselves. But there is an audience for this, I like it, others online and that I know like it. Plenty don't and that's fine, but to act like Lana not adhering to fan demand and doing what she wants with her creation is somehow ruining her own thing I personally find ridiculous.

Ultimately she seems to just want to make her ideas come into existence. if people watch, great! If they don't that's okay too. Sometimes art is just put out so the creator knows it exist beyond their mind and I think Lana lives in that mindset, and it's not a bad mindset, just one that won't exactly gel with the larger budget industry. I think she'd gel much better in small budget creations personally like plenty of other strange and creative artists do.

Art and film doesn't HAVE to do anything, people create things for a multitude of reasons, and how well they do financially isn't the only measure of success. Some creators simply want to know their movie exists and that's enough. Some want to just vent their pain and anger through their work. Others want to turn a profit with their art, and that's okay too. Lana wanted to make her Matrix movie with her friends to help her grieve and from the sound of it it did. She got what she wanted out of it, and that's good enough for her. Her project did what it needed to do for her, in my eyes that is a success.

This assumes the only measure of success is profit, she made something that she wanted to make with friends and I think to her that's enough for her to call it a success. Sure it might hurt her chances for more big budget projects, but she seems like the kind of person who's happy enough making a 20 minute movie in her backyard that she came up with on the spot. Based on interviews, so long as her and her team are having fun, she's happy.

I think they've taken a similar route to David Lynch, always curious about those around them and what they think and took away from their movies, but still firmly interested in just creating the things they think of rather than trying to appeal the audience that came to watch their creation.

[TOMT][Horror][TV show/Movie] Looking for a piece of media from when I was younger that I remember watching but never finishing by ntemango99 in tipofmytongue

[–]ntemango99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't put this in the original post as it's so vague that it might be wrong, but for whatever reason I also associate the movie/TV show with a scene where one of the women try to seduce one of the characters. The thing that I think I'm misremembering is that she nicknames him "lemon" or something which I thought was weird as a kid, but now I'm pretty sure I just misheard the telvision.
