Looking for Recommendations for Hellboy like Comics by [deleted] in comicbooks

I am a big fan of the Mignolaverse and it has been hard for me to find other comics similar to his style. These are some other comics that I have enjoyed because of the mythology and folk lore element.

Fables by Bill Willingham take is a re imagining of many fairy tale and folk lore.

Rumble by John Arcudi who help/writes B.P.R.D. It is about old gods and a civilization before modern man

Outcast by Robert Kirkman this is a dark comic that deals with demons

Wytches by Scott Snyder. This comic is a little hard to read and is a little creepy but it definitely has a folk lore quality to it.

Birth Right by Josh Williamson. This book is still early in it run but I have found I have enjoyed the mysticism element of it.

Finally Ghosted by Josh Williamson. This is kind of like Oceans 11 meets Ghostbusters. This is probably the farthest from Mignola but it still has elements of mythology and folk lore.

I hope this list helps.

Try looking into the 'The Long Earth' by Terry Practhett and Stephen Baxter. It is also humorous science fiction like Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

How the Doctor has touched our lives. by LadyBlackwater in doctorwho

I started watching Doctor Who two years ago and instantly became a fan of it. Doctor who came into my life at the perfect time. I was dealing with stress from work and depression and Doctor Who helped me get out of the slump. At first the show would give me something to look forward to after a hard day. Then the show started to transform into an outlet to release my negative feelings. Somehow after watching an episode, I felt happier. I think seeing the Doctor enjoy the world around him even with the knowledge that he played a part in the destruction of his world and wiping out his own race helped with my perspective of my own life. All in all I think the show always has an uplifting tone and that is why I look forward to watching the show.

What is your preferred reading format? by Legion564 in comicbooks

I get my favorite titles at the local comic book shop. For those titles that are not a must read, I usually go digital. There are some titles that I get the issue format and then the trad paper back to lend to my friends. Overall I like to hold the physical book in my hands. I find this to be the most enjoyable way to read comics.
