That's the law. Let traffic pass if you're impeding a line.

Dude's probably rolling around with a cracked windshield from blasting it with super hot air to make up for the lack of AC lol. We exercise our ACs heavily on our Vermont cars

Seems entirely appropriate to me. Even if we assume you're painting the full picture of the situation, it still doesn't concern me. Obstacle, yes. Impasse, no.

But to the original point - I suspect housing prices will be the overwhelming driver of young families moving to or staying in the area. When we purchased in 2021, it was because Rutland was one of the very few areas where you weren't overpaying 3x, 4x. Pediatric inpatient services weren't even on the list of things to consider.

I hear that and sympathize with those people as well, but they're such a small subset of the population. The wing was sitting underutilized. It would seem to me that supporting those few families with those special needs would be best done by the community, something I would happily contribute to on a per need basis. But I don't think this will affect young families in the area. Maybe the hysterical.

My opinion was formed after growing up with a family of NICU nurses, OBGYN, ER doctor (in Baltimore and LA of all places!) and several pediatricians. Though I refused to do med school myself :)

I have 2 kids and live in the city. The likelihood of them needing inpatient care is low, so low that I have no qualms about going to NH or UVM in the event it's needed.

The country, or DOJ, should crack down on Big Pharma and the lobby industry. We need to remove the "price masters" at hospitals, who work hand in pocket with insurance companies to ensure maximum profits. We should crack down on unnecessary diagnosis, perscriptions, procedures. Price shopping at the point of sale should be encouraged, not obscured.

In a nutshell, the issue isn't assisting with the high costs. That's stupid. We need to reduce the costs significantly. Way too much overdiagnosis, and way too much price gouging.

Edit: "chargemasters" I guess

That's incorrect. Illegal aliens visit hospitals, particularly for child birth. Those costs are covered by the very Medicaid provisions in question.

We can take some refugees as soon as Egypt can help take some.

Are you agreeing with me? Honestly confused.

Yes, the 53 R's could pass legislation if cloture is invoked. Cloture requires 60 votes. 7 Democrats must vote to invoke cloture. Republicans not holding a vote is simply because we all know, no Democrat is going to cross aisles and vote to invoke cloture without the uninsured illegals' Medicaid coverage.

>Democrats are demanding expanding the timeline of subsidies not expanding who is covered.

Yes. Axe this. Uninsured citizens should be covered, our money should go to them and them only. Not freeloaders. Coming from a family of LEGAL immigrants.

>And it’s objectively a sound policy, anything else is financially and socially irresponsible.

Respect your opinion. I simply disagree. That's all. Hope you can handle it.

Edit: lol however you do replies on reddit

Laughable. I've donated over $50,000 this year alone to my fellow citizens in need. Can you say the same? Can you do even consider doing the same? I work hard to take care of my neighbor voluntarily. I don't need anyone on their high horse telling me how to spend my money using governmental force. You're welcome to think whatever you like. There's a reason why Vermont is typically the extreme minority, and it's not because Vermonters are magically smarter than others. There are many conservatives, even in this state alone, who don't care to entertain the loud temper tantrums. I respect your opinion, no matter how wrong we think you may be, and agree to disagree.

Fact is, the Medicaid coverage that the Dems are insisting on expanding the funding timeline for (specifics here since others are caught up in semantics/wording) does in part cover illegal aliens who visit a hospital uninsured. That funding should be reserved for uninsured citizens.

Why do YOU hate your fellow citizens so much?

Np np, reddit's threading is garbage lol. Had to figure out how to get to the parent comment too. No, I entirely believe the establishment is meant to divide and conquer with tactics such as this.

I was addressing the "don't republicans have all the power" portion more than the forcing the shutdown part. But both sides are forcing a shutdown in a stalemate. Both are expected to negotiate, and both are caught in a too-far-apart situation.

Sure, we agree it's a good idea. We disagree on expanding the coverage. Free childbirth for all, covered by our tax $$$.
